The first appointment is scheduled for 1 hour. This will allow for a complete history and physical exam as well as the first acupuncture treatment. Follow up treatments/rechecks will be scheduled as half hour appointments.

Approximately 45 to 60 minutes, and we try very hard to stay on time, because we know your time is valuable.

Allow at least one hour for new patient evaluations (15 minutes earlier than the appointed time for completion of paperwork and 30-40 minutes for the evaluation and making any appointments that are recommended for testing after you are seen). The electromyography and nerve conduction studies usually will take about one hour as well, but this does vary depending on the complexity of your problem.

Usually atherosclerosis is the cause of the problem. Atherosclerosis is hardening of the arteries which is caused by five major risk factors which include: high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, high cholesterol, and your family tendencies toward development of atherosclerosis, meaning genetics. Each of these factors can be controlled, except for the genetic problem.

Dr. Barley will always try to see current patients with serious problems the same day they call the office. If his schedule does not permit a same-day visit, he will then try to speak with them to establish the nature of the problem. Dr. Barley has same-day access to some of the finest specialists in the city and around the world, should that be necessary. In addition, Dr. Barley tries to leave some time in his schedule to accommodate new patients each day.

If you have not had a facial in the last 6 months, 90 minutes would be a good length of time to cover the analysis, perform a deep cleansing, and begin any treatments we've decided upon to meet your skin care goals. If you have rosacea or sensitive skin, we would not want to over stimulate the tissues, and a 60 minutes session is recommended. If you have maintained your skin or have received regular facials, 60 minutes is the usual session length.

The typical wait for a new patient without a troubling medical problem is approximately three to four weeks. We make every attempt to get a new patient having a medical problem in within 24 hours of their contact with the office. Sick visits are seen on the day that you call. Less urgent visits may be seen within 24-48 hours.

The length of your appointment depends on several factors; such as, what area of your body we are treating, whether your injury is acute or chronic, and how far along you are in your therapy. You may make an appointment any time by simply contacting our office. Many of our patients are referred to us for diagnosis and treatment of TMD and sleep-disordered breathing by their general dentist, family physician or other medical specialist (e.g., ENT, neurologist, otorhinolaryngolgist, etc.). However, a referral is not required. Note: If you are insured by an HMO, you may find it beneficial to obtain a referral from your primary care physician.

In order to file your claims accurately, we must have your most recent information along with a copy of your insurance card. This will ensure all of your claims are being filed correctly as well as in a timely manner.

For the rest of your life. You must be followed by an eye-care specialist and may need a medical oncologist. You may want to consider this when choosing your doctors and their location. Patients who receive plaque radiotherapy are typically seen by their eye care specialist every 3 to 4 months. Patients typically undergo twice-yearly blood tests, radiographic imaging studies and physical examinations.
