In order to control news routing, Cyclone provides a number of simple but powerful options that determine how the server will stamp news articles. It is important to notify remote feeds of what path alias to exclude from feeding you; if this isn't done, sites will end up offering you a lot of extra articles and will occasionally result in articles you have already seen being sent to you (11.3).

Also, I keep track of the posts so I know when members have met the list participation requirement.

Recipients do not read the subject line in isolation. Their reaction to the subject is mitigated by everything else they know about the email and particular the sender. If the reader already knows and trusts the sender, for example, then the subject line is released from the task of establishing that trust.
