My baby is not gaining weight well. What should I do?

It's normal for babies to lose some weight in the first two or three days, because babies are born with a little extra fluid in their bodies. After that, your baby should be gaining 1/2 an ounce to an ounce a day, at the minimum, as your milk comes in. All breastfed babies should be weighed about 2 days after going home. If the weight gain does not seem adequate at that visit, she should be weighed again on the same scale 1-2 days later.
