On the Compatibility tab, clear the DivX AntiFreeze Filter check box, if that check box is available. Then click OK. If the DivX AntiFreeze Filter is not there, or if you still experience unexpected shutdowns, follow these steps. c. Click the Troubleshoot tab. This issue is often caused by the DirectShow Subtitle Filter (subtitds.ax) that is installed by a non-Microsoft program. The video transitions and effects already in Movie Maker are based on DirectShow. However, Movie Maker will quit unexpectedly if more than 100 DirectShow video transitions or video effects are installed on your computer. Use the software that came with your Sony MicroMV video camera to capture video from the camera, and then import the resulting video file into Movie Maker. Connect your Sony MicroMV camera to your computer using an analog connection, such as an S-video cable or RCA cable, and then capture the video using Movie Maker.

Some Microsoft DirectShow video filters are installed by non-Microsoft video and audio programs and are known to cause issues in Movie Maker when you try to import or preview audio and video or save a movie in Movie Maker. To prevent such issues, these filters are turned off by default in Movie Maker 2.1, which is included in Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2). Currently within YSI's Image Editior you can change any color image into a Black & White and reduced it's Opacity. Special effects such as Drop Shadows, Toning, Softness etc. will be added in future releases. In the meantime, you can export your finished layout directly into PhotoShop and add any effect you may require. Depending on the amount of Finished layouts you have created within each job, your graphics card may be having problems processing the information.

PowerPlugs: Transitions' effects require a 3D graphics accelerator that has a minimum of 4 MB video memory onboard. You may require more video RAM in your 3D graphics accelerator, depending on the display resolution you want to use. A general rule of thumb is that the higher the screen resolution, the more video RAM will be required. For example, 640x480 and 800x600x16 can generally be rendered with 4 MB of video RAM, whereas 1024x768x16 will require 8 MB of video RAM.

There are two methods of doing this, depending on your Digital Video Camera. If you have a camera with a "DV in" port, you can easily export a finished movie project back to your camera down the Firewire or USB cable. If your camera doesn't have a DV in port, you'll need a Video Card with a TV out port. This will allow you to connect your PC to a video recorder and tape the movie as it plays. This is a cheap and cheerful method but entails some problems.
