How do I get my computer hooked into the ResNet system?
FAQPlease visit the University Computing website for complete details about using ResNet for high-speed internet connections. It’s also important to have a University e-mail account (WestConn Email) in order to receive important communication from around campus.
What Computers Does ResNet support?
UR: ResnetYes. ResNet uses (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) DHCP. Computers using ResNet do not use proxies and are not behind any fire walls.
I can't get my network card to work on ResNet. Does ResNet provide support for this?
ResNet @ UNIIt depends. Many computers today come with integrated Ethernet cards. These will work fine on the ResNet network as long as they have the proper network drivers and are physically working. If there is a problem, it may be necessary to contact the computer manufacturer or purchase a different network card. ResNet will try to get the existing cards to work with the system, but there are some circumstances where the card is bad or not able to work in that specific computer.
What is ResNet?
Bristol University - Information Services - FAQs (Frequently...The University of Bristol Residential Networking Service (ResNet) connects rooms in all the University's owned residences to the University network and the Internet. If you have a computer and sign up with ResNet, you will able to: Access educational resources such as the University library catalogue and electronic academic journals
What is a pseudoexacerbation? Does having one mean my MS is progressing?
Select a Medical Service | Multiple Sclerosis (MS) CenterA pseudoexacerbation is a temporary aggravation of MS symptoms - including muscle weakness, tingling, spasms and vision difficulties - that have previously appeared in the patient. Typically, a pseudoexacerbation lasts 24 hours or less. In the majority of MS patients, a pseudoexacerbation is triggered by a rise in body temperature, which, in turn, may be caused by fever (due to infection), the environment (e.g., sun exposure, a hot bath), or exercise (e.g., mowing the lawn).
What does setting up ResNet involve? Will I need help connecting?
Bristol University - Information Services - FAQs (Frequently...We provide easy to follow instructions to connect your computer, with software on CD or to download. The main steps are: Install Windows service packs and security patches, and configure your system to install them automatically in future
Does a rater have to carry the RESNET Insurance Program?
RESNET - IRS Releases Rules for Tax CreditsNo. Raters are not required to have the RESNET coverage. Any professional liability coverage will be accepted. No. The RESNET rater coverage is a service to its rater members. RESNET receives no compensation for the policy coverage.
Why does a person having a heart attack need an AED?
AED - Frequently Asked QuestionsWhen a heart attack becomes a full cardiac arrest, the heart most often goes into uncoordinated electric activity called fibrillation. The heart twitches ineffectively and cannot pump blood. The AED delivers electric current to the heart muscle, momentarily stunning the heart, stopping all activity. This gives the heart an opportunity to resume beating effectively.
What type of Ethernet connection does ResNet use? How long does the patch cable need to be?
HSU Residential NetworkOur ResNet program uses 100base-T. Our entire ResNet program uses standard RJ-45 type connectors for our connections. Crossover Ethernet cables will not work on our system. The length of your patch cable will depend on where you decide to place your computer in your room. For most areas a 25-foot patch cable will allow you to place your computer anywhere in your room. [ back to top ] ResNet uses DHCP and this information will be provided automatically to your computer when it connects to ResNet.
Who runs ResNet?
Bristol University - Information Services - FAQs (Frequently...ResNet is part of University of Bristol Information Services. The ResNet team consists of full-time Information Services staff and University students and postgraduates working for ResNet part-time.
How is my computer connected to ResNet?
Bristol University - Information Services - FAQs (Frequently...We use ethernet cabling to link your room directly to the University network and the Internet. The connection is always on, so you can use it whenever you like. It doesn't tie-up your phone line, and is typically faster than the Internet access you may be used to at home. It uses an ethernet socket (built-in to almost all computers) to connect.
Is ResNet wireless?
Bristol University - Information Services - FAQs (Frequently...The University does have wireless hotspots available for use free of charge. These are available in libraries, foyers, bars, team rooms, many departments and central areas in most halls - but they don't cover the study bedrooms. Wired and wireless are complementary - wired provides a much faster connection but wireless would be convenient especially if you have more than one computer. We are planning a wireless ResNet pilot to cover rooms in one of the student houses in 07/08.
