The following table lists the names of all Dell OpenManage features and their corresponding names in Windows. You can install a Red Hat Enterprise Linux or SUSE Linux Enterprise Server operating system on many systems using identical settings, which is called a kickstart, and allow consistent configurations across all systems. To use this feature, the PowerEdge systems must be configured identically with the same hardware and operating system installed.

The default port used by Server Administrator is 1311. The default ports used by Dell OpenManage IT Assistant are 2606 (for the connection service) and 2607 (for the network monitoring service). These ports are configurable. See Table 2-1 in this guide for additional details.

A Microsoft Service Pack (MSP) file stores only the differences between an old version and a new version. It is much smaller in size than the upgrade file. You can either use the MSP file or the new MSI file to upgrade your Dell OpenManage 4.3. Using the MSP file is a good idea as it is more efficient. NOTE: You can upgrade from Dell OpenManage software version 4.3 to 5.1 through a full MSI Installation only. You cannot upgrade using a MSP service pack file.

Windows Media DRM improves the security of the system by making each digital media player unique and linking the player to the host computer. This reduces the likelihood that a compromised player will be widely distributed on the Internet. With individualization, any compromised player can be identified and disabled in the licensing process.

Yes, but not much. Because Windows XP was designed and built before the .NET Framework was complete, it only includes bare-bones .NET functionality. The primary conduit for .NET in XP is Windows Messenger, which is used to expose .NET alert and rendezvous services. XP also includes integration with the .NET Passport service, so that you can optionally auto-logon to Passport when you logon to Windows.

Microsoft hasn't publicly committed to any features for Windows 7 and the company is currently still deciding what this next Windows release will look like. We do know a few things about Windows 7, however: It will include a new version of Windows Explorer that is being built by the same team that designed the Ribbon user interface in Office 2007. It will likely include some form of the "Hypervisor" (Windows Virtualization) technologies that will ship shortly after Windows Server 2008.
