Many graduate students serve in one of these two positions for all or most of their graduate student career. These positions offer professional development, research opportunities and significant financial rewards. In addition to a monthly salary, these positions provide a full or partial fee waiver. the current time, we are able to offer most qualified graduate students a TA position during the first year of study.

The ECE department offers two forms of student financial assistance: The research assistant (RA) and the teaching assistant (TA). The RA positions are under control of each individual faculty member. The ECE office does not keep any records on availability. You will need to query each individual faculty member to check on their availability of RA funding.

Psych Central is a great place to begin building experience in tutoring others, especially Psych 111 students. Students working there as teaching assistants earn credit in Psychology 492R. The center is re-staffed every semester or term. If you are interested, go to Psych Central and make an appointment with the Graduate Student Coordinator in order to discuss possible openings. Graduate students fill most paid Teaching Assistant positions, so there are limited undergraduate positions.

If your registration fees are to be paid by your department, you may want to defer payment until the funding sources are available. (e.g., stipends, TA fellowships, etc.) Please note: If your graduate award does not include Health Insurance, you must pay it at the time of your payment plan enrollment. If you are paying your registration fees with your teaching assistant salary, you may set up a payment plan to correspond with receipt of your paychecks.

Answer: Faculty members often employ doctoral students as RA’s on their research projects, and students are strongly encouraged to apply for these positions as they provide excellent experience. These positions vary from year to year, depending on the grant money awarded to faculty members. Teaching assistants (TA’s) help professors by assisting with marking assignments and delivery of some course information. SLAIS does not have such positions at this time

Few research assistantships will likely be available from various faculty members' extramural grants. In general, though, the nature of this professional degree will limit the student support available through Georgia Tech.

This type of experience is useful if you want to apply for an assistantship position in the business school. However, it cannot substitute for industrial work experience in your MBA application. We encourage all applicants to make personal visits to the university and the Center so they can visit with students and staff, view the facilities, etc. Alumni may in certain cases be available during such visits, but we can always arrange for email contacts between applicants and alumni.

No. Research positions are not offered through NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital's Volunteer Services Department.

Funded usually from grants and contracts, qualified students receive Research Assistantships (stipend and tuition) in their second and third years. Incoming students are not allowed to become Teaching Assistants. TA's must undergo a training session provided by the dean's office prior to the semester they TA. However, for advanced students (students in their second or third year), a limited number of Teaching Assistantships are available.

The order amounts will be applied is as follows: Exemptions, Assistance (including Scholarships and the Tuition Benefit) and any other remaining amounts such as tuition remission.

There is no application required for a TA or RA position. All applicants are considered for a TA or RA position. Additional funding questions may be answered at the financial support page.

Both positions are meant for doctoral studies. The purpose of the ECSE positions is that the student graduates to a doctoral degree after four (4) years of full-time studying. An ECSE position holder can teach with the following rules: (i) the total amount of teaching cannot exceed 56 h per academic year, and (ii) the student is paid extra for the teaching.

There are a limited number of teaching internships available to certified students continuing their studies. After one year of successful internship you will have the opportunity for paid employment at the Center and as part of our Mobile Training Team which provides onsite training at other community agencies. Please check our undergraduate course descriptions. You are likely to teach a course with a course number beginning 10, 11, or 12. You may need to master specific programming languages such as C++ and Scheme to be able to perform your teaching duties.

All hiring of teaching assistants at UofT is done internally by individual departments. Most graduate departments at the University of Toronto offer new students a teaching assistantship when they are accepted into the department. This is not always the case, however, and no department is required to offer TAships to its students.

Teaching Assistant assignments will be made in late August. You will work with a faculty member and your main duty will be to grade assignment papers. Graduate students do not usually teach classes. You will have office hours for undergraduate students to meet with you. A few hours each week will be spent maintaining web pages for faculty.
