Turkey visas for USA citizens cost an extortionate $100 and should be bought at the Istanbul airport upon arrival using US dollars, exact change only. Canadian citizens on the Eastern Europe tour only will currently need visas for the Czech Republic and Poland.

Yes, permits are required in all wilderness areas, National Parks, and other restricted areas along the trail. You can obtain a permit from the agency on which your PCT trip originates. For example, if you plan to travel from Echo Lake to Castle Crags State Park, you would need to contact the Eldorado National Forest since your trip would begin in that forest. They would issue a permit good for your entire trip. The PCTA can issue a wilderness permit for trips of 500 miles or more along the PCT.

For yachts traveling inside US waters, you will need at least a Visa Waiver, which is good for only 90 days at a time, and is given upon arrival to most foreign nationals. However, most yachts prefer non-Americans to have a B1/B2 multiple entry Visa, which allows you free entry and exit from the country for sometimes up to 10 years. This must be applied for outside of the US, and does not legally permit foreign nationals to work on US registered yachts.

The type of visa an educational institution issues for you may depend on how long you want to study with us. For courses of less than 3 months, they can issue tourist visas invitations. If your course is longer than 3 months, then they can issue a 6- or 12-month multi-entry business visa. You should preferably have a long term visa (e.g. for 1 year if you are planning a 6-month internship). It might be easy for you to obtain a long term visa in your home country but in India it can get difficult to extend it. You have to travel to Delhi and need at least one week for this process and even then there is no guarantee of getting the visa.
