This depends on how much skin surface area was dermabraded. Following full face skin resurfacing, you will have moist dressings under a soft wrap around your head and under your chin. These dressings keep the area moist and promote healing. At your first postoperative appointment 24 hours after surgery, you will see redness and go through a period of unsightliness for about ten days. Your skin may appear wavy.

With the eyelids closed, your appearance will be unchanged. When your lids are open, you will see conjunctiva covered by a conformer. Conjunctiva is the pink tissue resembling the mucous membrane inside your mouth. After surgery, we bandage the scalp with a gauze wrap and compression bandage for the first 24 hours. After the bandage is removed, the scalp will have some redness and scabbing on the areas where the grafts were transplanted. These should heal within 4-5 days. In most cases, the surgery is performed through incisions in the nostrils, leaving no visible scars. Bone and cartilage are trimmed and the nose reshaped. Nostril packs and splints may be required.
