Both keyboard wedge and serial interfaced scanners are supported through connection to a register, terminal or PC workstation.

Some labels may print with very high density bar code, such as 4 mil (0.10mm), and most scanners may only read up to 5 mil (0.125mm) code. In which case, please contact us, we have high density scanner for that purpose. Try to hold the wand like holding a pen, with 14 to 30 degree angle, scan the bar code label with a natrual way from either left to right or to left. Usually the readers or scanners have default settings to read certain types of bar code symbologies like UPC, EAN, Code 30...etc.

AssetManage will support any type of bar code scanner that transmits bar codes as keystrokes to your computer. These bar code scanners typically connect directly with your keyboard or are connected via a USB port. AssetManage will also support barcode scanners that store collected information within the scanner. After collecting the information, export it to a text file. Then import the text file into AssetManage.

The software is ready for you to plug in a cash drawer, bar code scanner or a tag printer, but that doesn't mean you must use these features. You can purchase this hardware from your supplier when and if you decide you want to use the feature.

A bar code is a reference number on a product that a computer uses to look up associated records, which contain descriptive data and other pertinent information. For example, the bar codes found on items in retail stores don't contain the price or description of the food item; instead the bar code has a 12 digit "product number" in it.

BarCode is an automatic identification technology. It allows data to be collected accurately and rapidly. A BarCode symbol consists of a series of parallel, adjacent bars and spaces. Predetermined width patterns are used to code actual data into the symbol. To read information contained in a BarCode symbol, a scanning device, such as a light pen (or wand), is moved across the symbol from one side to the other.

First it allows individual identification of the animal and the bar code can be easily read with a scanner. Second, the Canadian Cattle Identification Agency issues the numbers to the CACP, and the number, bar code and country code, conform to their standards. The number is associated with the bar code, each time you order, a new sequence of numbers will be registered to you.

The RSS family is omnidirectional except for RSS Limited?, RSS-14? Truncated, RSS-14 Stacked and the 2D Composite ComponentsTM. These exceptions will require the use of a handheld scanner "gun". You don't need a bar-code scanner to run RetailEdge effectively. Scanners will speed up entering items at the point-of-sale and may reduce errors, but you do not need one. If you determine that you would like a scanner, there a number of different types you can choose from. CCD (Charged Coupled Device) Scanners. These are very inexpensive but are not as effective at reading barcodes on uneven surfaces. However, they are typically more durable than a laser because they have no moving parts.

BarCode Wands are the most popular BarCode readers or scanners, due to their low cost. Wands are manually moved across BarCodes to perform the reading function, hence their classification as "contact" scanners. BarCode Wand are extremely simple to use, but require users to keep a reasonably constant scanning motion across the BarCode, and a flat surface behind the BarCode to support the pressure applied by the operator during the scanning motion.

BarCode CCD Scanners are faster and easier to use than Wand Scanners. User simply holds the CCD Scanner slightly above the BarCode, and pulls the trigger button. CCD scanners typically read BarCodes from contact to about one-half inch distance, hence their classification as "near-contact" scanners. BarCode physical length must be considered when using CCD BarCode Scanners, as the complete BarCode must be covered by the CCD scanner optical head.

BarCode Laser Scanners are faster and easier to use than Wand or CCD Scanners. User simply holds the Laser Scanner above the BarCode, and pulls the trigger button. Laser scanners typically read BarCodes from near contact to 12 inch distance (some models up to four feet), hence their classification as "non-contact" scanners.
