Active scripting (as against static html) is a method of changing the contents of a web page dynamically depending on one or more parameters. An example of this might be an e-commerce site showing a product. The page that shows the product could show the amount of this item in stock. This requires active scripting.

Many new web servers will preprocess a web page before relaying it onto the clients browser. By embedding scripts into these pages, the server can change the way the page is created before it is even sent to the user. This allows a wealth of systems to be created, from simple database queries to forums and e-commerce applications. There are several types of server scripting environments, the most popular being ASP/ASP.

You can detect and interept the capabilities of your client using the namespace System.Web.HttpBrowserCapabilities :

AutoDesk initially included scripting as a form of automation some years ago, so the concept is sound, and well supported through the different versions of AutoCAD. Scripting seems to be the most stable form of automation that AutoCAD offers, as VBA and ActiveX rely on the specific version of AutoCAD it is implemented on. Hurricane will work with ANY version of AutoCAD the supports "scripting", you don't need a special version of Huricane for each version of AutoCAD.

As a test of the environment launch YSI, once launched press the control and T keys together (control + T), and in this sequence. This should launch a simple test script that will launch Photoshop and try to make a new document. If a new document is made in Photoshop then Scripting Support is working properly. Our recommended browser is normally configured to use scripting when it is installed, and this is required for full performance of PLANTS. However, you may have set your security settings or firewall software to disable scripting. The Active Directory is Microsoft's implementation of a 'Directory Service' and a directory service is basically something that stores data in an organized format and has the mechanisms needed to publish and access the data. Although it's possible to program in batch language or with QBASIC (a 16-bit BASIC interpreter that comes with Windows 95 and Windows NT), serious programmers will probably prefer one of the following other options: Python (http://www.python.org/): a very full-featured language, widely-used. OOP, networking, CGI, database, GUI programming.
