AA/AS Degree is a two-year degree (based on 4 semesters of 15 units each) that consists of specific groups of classes. You need approximately 30 semester units of General Education, 18-20 semester units of Major Requirements and other courses or electives to add up to a minimum of 60 semester units. You must also complete these courses with a 2.0 ("C") cumulative grade point average or higher.

associate's degree requires 60 completed degree-applicable units. There are two types of Associate's degrees, the Associate of Arts, (A.A.) and the Associate of Science (A.S.). You are able to obtain an Associate's degree at any Community College. Universities and State Universities to do not offer Associate's degrees. To obtain the Associate Degree, a student must complete 60 units of college work. The 60 units must include General Education, Major and Elective courses.

California colleges and universities do not require an A.A. to transfer, unless a student intends to compete in athletics at the college or university. In many cases, it is not to the student’s advantage to follow the A.A. degree requirements except for the A.A. in University Studies.

The A.A. degree is designed specifically for students who wish to transfer to a four-year college or university. Students accepted into the A.A. degree program attend classes once per week from 6 to 10 p.m., 6 to 8 p.m. or 8 to 10 p.m., with short vacation breaks twice per year. The American Cultures requirement is a 3 unit course in which three different cultures are studied. The A.A.S. in Human Services Generalist degree prepares students to enter the Human Services field with a multitude of skills, including the essential knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to deliver professional services that assist clients with their bio-psychosocial growth. Yes. You can earn certificates in five tracks of study in the MP/TV Program: Screenwriting, Broadcasting, Film Production, Editing, and Analysis and Criticism. To earn a certificate, students take only the MP/TV classes needed in any of the study tracks.

Yes, the Delaware SEED Scholarship can be used to cover tuition for the UD Associate in Arts Program, as long as the student meets other qualifications (see next question).

TMCC is an accredited college, and courses may be transferred to other institutions of higher education. The associate of arts degrees are specifically designed to transfer seamlessly to the University of Nevada-Reno's bachelor of arts degree in criminal justice.

Some students elect to earn a second associate degree at TMCC, because they want an AAS in law enforcement and an AA in criminal justice or an AAS in investigations and an AA in business.
