The fastest way to obtain a certificate is to go to a Vital Statistics office located in Anchorage, Fairbanks, or Juneau. If filled out correctly, many requests can be processed while you wait. However, some requests may take up to 48 hours to complete. Please note that not all certificates are available at the Anchorage or Fairbanks offices.

Payment is accepted in the form of a check or money order payable to the Registrar/City of Troy or cash.

It depends on your present experience level, your ability to learn and absorb the material, and most of all, on your initiative. Study in our online members' area and submit payment when you are ready to test. We will respond with a link to your online test.

It usually varies from six months to more than two years depending on your prior experience, attendance and ability to learn. Our instructors go at your pace using individual and small classes. There is no time limit. Virtually all of our students suffer from one or more of these issues. To meet these challenges the Center has spent thousands of hours adapting and refining our curriculum, teaching methodology, staff qualifications and software to accommodate the special needs of each student.

For births or deaths, it takes about 2 weeks from the date of the event for the birth or death certificate to be ready. Mail-in requests take 3-4 weeks to process, whereas in-person requests are processed in 10-20 minutes, if the record is registered. Note that our office holds birth and death certificates for the current year and one previous year. Previous years’ certificates are available through the Office of the Clerk-Recorder or 299-2481.

If you're getting full-day instruction from a dive shop, at a dive location, then it depends on their schedule, class size, and how fast you learn. The standard "Open Water Diver" certification will typically be a four- or five-day process. If you're just taking evening lessons at home, once or twice a week, it will probably take four to six weeks for this.

Certified copies of the death certificate are issued by the county or state where the death occurred. Typically, you can expect the certified copies to arrive within two (2) weeks time, but some circumstances may make the process longer.

Certification may take 45 to 60 days or more, depending on how complete your certification package is.

You can use the Marriage Record search screen on this website to verify the existence of any records. Once located, you can print a letter to mail to the Register of Wills for a copy. There is a nominal fee depending on the type of information requested.
