Under common law, pedestrians, horse riders and carriage drivers have public user rights over the whole width of land designated a highway. Usually this is between the hedges and fences on either side of the carriageway and this area may include verges. These rights may, however, be restricted where limitations are imposed such as the provision of a footway, along which only pedestrians have user rights.

OHV recreation is just one of the many uses allowed on National Forest lands. OHV travel is regulated by the OHV travel plan; check with the closest Ranger Station for specific areas. It is your responsibility to know and abide by regulations relating to motor vehicle travel. State law requires registration of all motor vehicles before being operated on public lands.

Click on Ride Horse. Choose the intensity of the ride, and then use the arrow keys to navigate your horse around the arena. Don't panic if your horse gets lost, it will still give you stats. Also keep an eye on the clock, if you ride the horse for too long, it won't award you many stats. Once you ride your horse for the amount of time you wish, click dismount, and enter your horses ID in the box.

There are thousands of miles of established dirt roads in the Eastern Sierra. Some range from drivable by two wheel drive to very challenging four wheel drive routes. We ask that you stay on existing dirt roads. There is one open area east of Bishop managed by the Inyo National Forest. This area is called Poleta Canyon and can be accessed by taking East Line Street out of Bishop and traveling approximately 9 miles east. The area will be marked where open riding is allowed.

Horses are allowed anywhere on National Forests unless posted otherwise. You do not have to ride your horse only on established trails and roads; you can ride anywhere, however please do not cut switchbacks. You may take horses into designated wilderness areas; but please use low impact camping and horse tethering methods. Please do not tie horses to trees for long periods; use hobbles or high-lines instead. .Avoid wet, muddy trails to minimize damage from horse traffic.

Bitless methods of communication are historically older than bitted methods. Nevertheless, the majority of horsemen today are more familiar with the bit method than any other. The result is that ingrained in the thinking of most riders and drivers is the idea that a bit is necessary for control. In reality, nothing could be further from the truth. Nevertheless, it is understandable that many are nervous about dispensing with such a familiar and traditional method.

Yes, during particularly midgey evenings you can ride out with the Blanket in place. The belly-flap and hood (if worn) are removed and the back leg straps loosened. The stirrups conveniently hang below the bottom hem of the Blanket.

Equestrians and bicycling is restricted to the open public trails. Riders must stay on the trail, and maintain a low speed for the safety of others.

These rides are suitable for riders with little experience or even people who have never ridden before. We assign horses according to each rider's preference. We have plenty of horses, some are more challenging while others are very easy to handle. They are sure footed as they are all born and raised in the area and used to mountainous terrain.

When looking at horses we will introduce you to all the horses you want to see and then ride any horses that you would like to see ridden. We will ride them english or western. Which ever you prefer and if you would like to see them rode both ways then we will be happy to do that also. Also if you would like to see the horse rode outside the arena, around the barns, or down to the road we would be happy to do that also. You are welcome to bring your trainer to ride the horse.

You may park your horse trailer at the turnout at the end of the paved road. You may ride up the road if your horse can tolerate vehicles and continue up the Crest Trail toward Miller Peak. Horses are not permitted on any other trails.

Yes. We recommend riding trained or started horses in the sale ring. The rider should wear appropriate SHOW CLOTHING. You will be responsible for getting your horse to the Auction Ring and taking it back to the stall. Return to top
