One should always store coffee beans in a glass, air tight container. Air is coffee's principle enemy. Glass is best because it doesn't retain the odors of the beans or the oils, which could contaminate future beans stored in the same container. However, if you use glass, make sure the container is not exposed to light, as sunlight is believed to reduce freshness. What is a French Press/Cafetiere/Bodum French presses are usually glass containers with a wire mesh attached to a plunger.

For the freshest cup of Peerless Coffee, grind coffee just before brewing. Whole bean (or ground coffee) should be stored in an air tight container. Ideally coffee should not be stored for more than 2 weeks. If longer, you can put the coffee in the freezer, but keep it in the air tight container!

Roast A Bean recommends that after roasting and waiting until the coffee has degassed, you should store the roasted beans in an airtight container. Oxygen can quickly deteriorate the quality of coffee. Storing fresh roasted beans in a good airtight seal container can minimize this. It is important to note that freshly roasted beans can emit gases within the first 24 hours after roasting. We recommend allowing the gases to escape within that time and then seal in an airtight container.

Wait for the roasted coffee to cool, which also gives the beans a chance to degas themselves of their CO2. Then store roasted coffee in a well-sealed, clean, dry container -- coffee spoils when exposed to oxygen, water and heat. Mason jars are ideal. Coffee should be stored in an air-tight container because its aromatic oils are volatile (one of the delights of roasted coffee, in fact, is the aroma that greets you each time you open the jar). Do not keep coffee in the refrigerator or freezer.

To prolong the freshness of our products after they are delivered to you, please ensure that you store our coffee and tea at a cool and dry place. It is not necessary to refrigerate any of our products; however, high humidity should be avoided if at all possible, as moisture will lead to quick deterioration of our fine coffee and tea.

Once roasted, coffee begins to lose its flavour the longer it is exposed to air and moisture.
