Most heating experts agree that a hot water baseboard system will provide your home with significant advantages in comfort, cleanliness, quietness, ease of control, health and safety. Besides what most experts say, hot water baseboard heating is viewed as superior to hot air ducted heating by an average of 88% of homeowners who have experience with both. Can I air condition my home with a radiant floor heating system?

Danny Heineman & Sons, Inc. - Frequently Asked Questions Abo...
It is not advised to try to "air condition" a space with a radiant heating system. In theory a radiant floor can be used to cool a space. In order to lower the internal temperature of a space, the cooling surface has to drop in temperature. This lower temperature "pulls" the heat from the air and is then carried away through the liquid in the tubing below the floor. There are two main problems with this application. What if I want to install radiant floor heating in my building?

am-cor inc.
The am-cor? system was developed with this type of heating in mind. It is our opinion that solar based radiant is the most efficient way to heat a structure, saving both cost of purchase and operation of HVAC equipment. Radiant floors and ceilings may be heated by a gas-fired boiler, or by solar panels with gas backup. So for a little more than the cost of a large water heater, gentle heat may be distributed throughout interiors via the structure itself. See similar questions...

What is radiant heating?

Sun Light and Power
A modern radiant heating system is an energy-efficient heating system in which hot water is passed through tubing that is laid either within a floor, installed beneath it, or run within baseboard casings. In the former two methods, the thermal mass of the floor itself stores and radiates the heat. See similar questions...

Can I use my existing boiler for both radiant heating and baseboard radiators?

Radiantec : FAQ Frequently Asked Questions, Radiant Heat, Sy...

What are the advantages of radiant heating?

Sun Light and Power

I've heard that older radiant heating systems made the floors too hot. True?

Danny Heineman & Sons, Inc. - Frequently Asked Questions Abo...
Yes, this is a true statement to some degree. In the past, radiant heating systems were designed and installed in much the same way as a conventional baseboard system. High temperatures and simple controls were used to control the radiant heating system. These high temperatures were in fact too high from a comfort standpoint. The higher the water temperature in the floor, the higher the floor surface temperature will become. See similar questions...

What are the benefits of radiant heating?

Frequently Asked Questions About Radiant Heating Systems
Radiant heating provides superior comfort and savings over standard space and water heating systems. Because of its many benefits, radiant heating can also increase the value of your home. It spreads heat more evenly around the room, eliminating cold spots and cold blasts of air from registers. It is a steady, even source of heat. Rooms with vaulted ceilings are easier to heat and homeowners have more flexibility in room arrangements without concern for blocking vents. See similar questions...

How does radiant heating work?

Frequently Asked Questions About Radiant Heating Systems
Though radiant technology works with virtually any hot water heat source or fuel (Oil,Natural Gas,Propane). Radiant heating includes two primary components: While conventional heating systems rely on air circulation to distribute heat, radiant heating takes advantage of the fact that warm air rises. Installed beneath a home's flooring, it radiates heat upward and outward, spreading warmth and comfort throughout the room. See similar questions...

Can I put radiant heating in any room?

Frequently Asked Questions About Radiant Heating Systems
Any home can be equipped with radiant in the floor, underfloor or baseboard heating solutions. Usually we see customers choose to use the Slimline baseboard in a retrofit environment, on the second or third floor(s), or where it is difficult to install infloor or under-floor tubing. Installing systems in new homes at the time of construction is generally easier and less expensive, but most remodeling projects in existing homes can be designed to accommodate radiant heating. Can cork be used over radiant heating?

Cork Flooring Frequently Asked Questions | DuroDesign
Cork's natural insulating properties help a concrete radiant floor feel warm to the touch even when the heating system is off. A ceramic tile floor, however, becomes as cold as the concrete slab. Yes, cork slows the transmission of heat slightly from the slab below, but no more than a wood floor. Besides, a radiant floor heating system is not meant to be a fast-response heating system- but based on steady radiation from a thermal mass. See similar questions...
