It is known that several so-called Video-CDs exist that do not play on a CD-i player. This is mainly the case with certain titles from China and the Far East. Mostly, this is due to the absence of a CD-i application on the disc. In 99% of all cases, this is caused by Nero's MP4 splitter (NDparser.ax) interfering. Most users have a working version of it, and then you usually never notice it since it just works (you won't get Haali's tray icon though). However, for some, seemingly random, users it's broken and doesn't provide either video or audio output. There is a substantial difference between CD-ROM discs and CD-R or CD-RW discs. Because of this, there must be differences in the drives used to read these different types of media.
