I have an oil furnace. Should I have this chimney cleaned?

FAQs
Yes. Oil soot is extremely flammable and an oil furnace produces carbon monoxide. A bi-product of oil combustion is sulfur dioxide that turns into sulfuric acid when it encounters moisture. This acid erodes terra-cotta clay flue liners, causing gaps in the flue where fumes can escape into living space, or causing the flue liners to collapse and block the vent completely. Remember that most oil burners are only 75-80% efficient when new. This performance degrades after approximately 6-months. See similar questions...

How do I know if my furnace chimney needs to be cleaned?

Extreme abnormal amount of heat in the area of the furnace and connecting pipes may be another sign that the oil furnace chimney needs to be cleaned. If you have a gas furnace, which burns clear and odorless, a CO (carbon monoxide) detector is a must. One of the only ways to keep your family safe is to install one in your home. The Furnace refers to a Protoss versus Terran build that involves a series of drops (to hurt economy). The first drop consists of (1 goon + 2 zeal), the second (2 zeal + 1 reaver), and the third (1 reaver + 2 DT) or (2 zeals + 2 DT). It was designed as a counter to that back, jump-the-gap push terran likes to do in 6v9 on temple. Those numbers refer to your current supply at the time, and not the supply limit (which may be higher). See similar questions...
