Most of the biodynamic and organic herbs used by True Botanica are grown locally by Wisconsin farmers. We are also building a network with other farmers in the U.S. to help expand our line of items grown from these high quality plants. Part of our mission is to support these farmers to help establish a strong socially responsible and healing farming impulse.

All of the herbs we use at True Botanica are of the highest quality and are chosen based on the most appropriate form for each product. Whenever possible we try to use organic or even better biodynamic plant material that comes from US farmers. For our herbal tinctures, the vast majority are biodynamically and organically grown by local farmers (see question below) and are then prepared via our proprietary Pentas™ process.

We carry a variety of organic and biodynamic wines AND beers in Vintage Cellar. When in the store, look for a green price tag. But be sure to check with the employees for recent arrivals or short-term specials, because not all organic products may be marked with a green tag.

Biodynamic is a term that predates organic, and applies to farms that adhere to the anthroposophical principles of Rudolph Steiner. Biodynamic farms share principles with organic farms in that they do not permit chemical or GM additives, but go further in taking into account factors such as the influence of the moon and planets.

Our herbs are either organic, ETHICALLY wildcrafted by hand-selected harvesters, or selectively imported. We first use certified organic herbs when available. (We will begin using certified organic goldenseal in the fall of 1999).Our herbs are never fumigated or irradiated.

Dr.Hauschka Skin Care uses plant ingredients that are grown biodynamically, organically or have been ethically wild-harvested. Biodynamics is a more comprehensive and holistic form of organic agriculture. Biodynamic agriculture pioneered the scientific use of crop rotation, composting, integrated soil, crop and pest management and animal husbandry during the early part of the 20th century. These agricultural practices were later popularized by the organic movement.

The fillings for my pillows are all organic. The flaxseeds are purchased from a Wholesaler of Natural Foods located in Marin County (just north of San Francisco). Their sources are from both inside the US and South America and are certified organic. The chamomile and about half of the lavender come from mountainroseherbs.com. The spearmint and the other half of the lavender is grown in my garden.

No animal rendered product can be used in the field and/or for animal feed supplement, for example, bone, blood, hoof and horn meal are prohibited as fertilizers. No adulteration can be used to enhance yield and size of plants; for example no plant hormones, such as gibberillic acid are used.

Both practices strive to improve the soil health. Organic methods do not differentiate between compost of varying materials. The biodynamic farmer mixes carefully portioned amounts of raw materials to form compost according to specified formulae. The biodynamic practitioner's intent is to produce compost in such a way as to lose as few nutritional elements as possible, while incorporating various dynamic practices. Those Biodynamic practices include Biodynamic preparations and herbal remedies.

Generally wild-crafted herbs are grown and harvested in their natural habitat, while organic herbs are grown under controlled situations. Here at Penn Herb, the majority of our herbs are wild-crafted. Our suppliers assure us that the botanicals are free of chemical pesticides and are not irradiated.

To be Certified Organic, herbs have to be grown on a farm that has been inspected, and soil samples proved to be chemical free. These inspections continue every year, with random checks as well, for three years, during which the farm is considered "under conversion". Only when the final inspection has been passed are the growers able to use the term Certified Organic for their herbs.

As an herbalist concerned about our environment, I strongly recommend that herbal consumers choose certified organically grown herbs. First, choosing organically cultivated herbs helps lessen over-harvesting of herbs in the wild. For example, Echinacea and Goldenseal, among other herbs, are facing extinction unless we start cultivating these plants. Second, certified organic farmers make sure they have crops year after year by not compromising their land for short-term gain.

This is an 'ultra-organic' wine. A bio-dynamic vineyard works with the rhythms of the earth in accordance with the cycles of the moon. Domaine Leroy and Leflaive in Burgundy, Coul?e de Serrant in the Loire, and Chapoutier in the Rh?ne all practice biodynamic viticulture.

Different hair and different hair colors will grow at a different rate. In general at the rate of one inch per month hair will grow about one foot per year. At about 100,000 hairs per head, this would average well over 100,000 feet per year. The average life span of a single hair is about 4 years and it will grow at various rates depending on many factors including a normal resting stage calculated to be about 5 15% of total hair at any one time.

Each plant is harvested by hand at its peak, according to the season, time of day, and position of the planets in the universe.

Sometimes we may use a homeopathic called progesteronum to encourage the body to produce more progesterone, but this is only done on a case by case scenario if necessary.
