What is the difference between 1k x 1k and 2k x 2k CCD cameras?

Gatan, Inc: FAQ Imaging
The 2k x 2k CCD camera has an area more than 6 times that of the 1k x 1k MultiScan camera. The pixel size is 25% larger for the 2k x 2k camera, which results in better image resolution.

Should I consider a 1k x 1k or 2k x 2k CCD camera?

Gatan, Inc: FAQ Imaging
For holography applications, a 2k x 2k CCD camera is preferred. This is because the reconstruction of an electron hologram only uses roughly 1/4 of the image area. For a 1k x 1k camera, this means only 256 x 256 pixels. For 2k x 2k camera, the reconstruction can be as large as 512 x 512 pixels. See similar questions...

What's the difference between 2K and 4K SDRAM?

All of Memory FAQ
The SDRAM has multiple internal banks. The 16M SDRAM has 2 banks, the 64M has 4 banks. When you tell the SDRAM a ROW or COLUMN address you must also specify which BANK you are referring to. The way to do this is by the 'bank address' (BA). Herein lies the problem. For some unknown reasons, suppliers have lumped together the ROW address pins with the BANK address pins and simply refer to them as 'address' pins. See similar questions...

What is the difference between cameras with 1/4" CCD and 1/3" CCD?

Hidden Camera Surveillance Australia - Hidden Cameras, CCTV ...
This is the size of a camera sensor's active area. The smaller the dimension, the more "work" the camera will have to do to present a monitor sized picture. A 1/4" CCD will have to magnify the image more to show the image on the monitor. A 1/3" CCD will need less magnification to show the image on the monitor. A 1/3" CCD will cost more and have a better image. Both types are adequate for reaview systems. See similar questions...

Camera) What is the difference between CCD and CMOS?

Audio House specializes in wide variety of audio-visual cons...
The image sensor used by most digital cameras is a charge-coupled device (CCD). Some cameras use complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) technology instead. Both CCD and CMOS image sensors convert light into electrons. CCD sensors create high-quality, low-noise images. CMOS sensors are generally more susceptible to noise. Because each pixel on a CMOS sensor has several transistors located next to it, the light sensitivity of a CMOS chip is lower. See similar questions...

CCD? CIS? What's the difference?

Scanners | Frequently Asked Questions
CCD is now the standard device used in today's scanners. It stands for Charge Coupled Device and it works like this: The device accepts light, converts it to electrical chargers that are then stored and manipulated into digital images. CIS on the other hand used to be the standard, but it has been mostly replaced by CCD. CIS based scanners are heavier and slower than their CCD brethren. See similar questions...

What is the difference between AMI and X-ray?

Sonoscan Frequently Asked Questions
AMI and x-ray are complementary techniques that are both frequently found in the same laboratories. They have important differences with regards to what they reveal in a sample. X-rays can be used to see inside a sample based upon material density differences. Dense materials are more opaque to x-radiation and penetration is more limited through metals compared with ceramics or polymers. See similar questions...

Do The Imaging Source color CCD cameras output raw image data?

Astronomy Cameras and Telescope Cameras FAQs
Y800: Camera based color interpolation is turned off and the raw color data stream from the CCD is outputted in the monochrome format Y800. The camera control software IC Capture.AS displays color images in their raw form. Therefore, they appear to be monochrome at first sight. This mode is not suited to visualization applications. However, should you wish to capture an uncompressed AVI file, you should use this mode. BY8: the structure of this format is equivalent to that of the format Y800. See similar questions...

Why is there mismatch in the montage image acquired from wide-angle MultiScan CCD cameras?

Gatan, Inc: FAQ Imaging
It is common to observe mismatch in montage images acquired from a wide-angle CCD camera. The mismatch comes from the common distortions in a TEM column when large-field-of-view images are acquired. Such distortions increase rapidly as the third power to the radial distance. Typically the distortion is less than 1% at the edge of the film. Since the Gatan wide-angle CCD camera has a field of view much larger than film (6 times more), it is inevitable to observe distortions from the TEM. See similar questions...

What are the main differences between the wide-angle and bottom mount MultiScan CCD cameras?

Gatan, Inc: FAQ Imaging
Field of view and effective magnifications. Wide-angle cameras have a large field of view (about 6 times larger than that of film), but have an effective magnification of 20-30% of that of film. On the other hand, a bottom mount camera has a field of view of only 10%, but effective magnification of about 130-150% of that of film. See similar questions...

Can I do TEM Tuning and DigitalMontage with MultiScan CCD cameras?

Gatan, Inc: FAQ Imaging
Yes, absolutely. However, mismatch may be observed in montage images acquired from wide-angle cameras, i.e. MS600W and MS600CW. No. Gatan does not offer any sort of upgrade. The hardware components have changed so much in the past, it is almost impossible to upgrade them to the current platform. Gatan recommends a trade-in option for the SSC cameras. What difference between Square Pixels CCD and non-Square Pixels CCD?

Kyoshin Technosonic (Asia)
If the application is use for Alignment; Measurement; Analyze; the object, it is better to use Square Pixels because the image size (Height & Width) which you capture is same as the actual object size. If you use non-Square Pixels CCD camera, the Width of the image will be wider than the actual object size. See similar questions...

What is the difference between CCD and CMOS Image Sensors?

FAQ - Frequent Asked Questions - CISEYE - Smart Home, Shop a...
The image sensor for IP Cameras is responsible for transforming light into electrical signals. This process is otherwise known as the capturing of images digitally. The CCD (Charge Coupled Device) image sensor offers superior image performance and flexibility at the expense of system size. CCD image sensors feature better light sensitivity when directly compared to CMOS image sensors. As a result, the higher light sensitivity translates into better images in low light conditions. What is the difference between a grade A and a grade B CCD?

Gatan, Inc: FAQ Imaging
The difference is the number of column defect allowed in the CCD sensor. For a grade A CCD, there is no column defect in the central 750 x 750 CCD area. For a grade B CCD, the maximum number of column defects should not exceed 10 in the whole image. See similar questions...

What is CCD?

Stun Guns Pepper Sprays Voice Changers Security Products
CCD is used in professional cameras because of its high resolution quality and its ability to record in low-light situations. CCD is basically a small silicon chip that receives light and turns it into voltage variations which makes up an image. Its usually measured in inches with 1/3" CCD being the standard. They are higher priced but are great for cameras that may require vision in near darkness. See similar questions...
