To protect you in the event of theft, the SIM card is immediately locked if someone keys in three different incorrect PIN codes in succession. This also applies if you absent-mindedly enter an incorrect PIN code three times in a row. The message "PIN locked" will appear on the screen. In this event, you can fall back on the PUK code, which comprises eight digits.
