The iris illustrates the whole person, including the whole body and the whole mind. Individual traits are identified at two levels, static and dynamic. The static traits are the constitutional qualities as shown by the overall structure and color of the iris, and the dynamic traits are indicated by small changes in the iris during the person's life. More advanced methods can be applied for identifying the past chronology of accumulated iris markings.

A picture book might take a couple of weeks to write, but then I have to let it "cool off" for a while before I can see it objectively and begin to revise it. Sometimes I let it cool off for years before I show it to anybody. A novel takes about a year to write and rewrite. Sometimes it takes longer, if the imaginary places I'm discovering keep expanding. (This is a geologic process, similar to continental plate formation along the Mid-Atlantic Ridge.

That's really hard to say because I don't do each image beginning to end & then move on to the next repeating the process. I do all the cards in a given assignment, an entire stage at a time, in an assembly line fashion. So if there are 15 cards, all 15 thumbnails are done at once, then all the sketches & so on. Some pictures are more involved & take longer than others so giving an average would be misleading. There is also the fudge factor.

The system has both advantages and disadvantages to electronic fingerprint systems, such as Live Scan. Here are some of the advantages: the iris biometric is about 12 times more unique --- from a science and statistical perspective -- than fingerprint biometrics. There is no need to touch anything (as with fingerprint) to capture the biometric data. A participant simply looks at a digital camera from about 10" to 15" inches and it takes a digital photo of their iris.

The iris was installed in the first episode ("Children of the Gods") as a protection against unwanted arrivals. Iris recognition biometric technology positively determines the identity of an individual by capturing a high resolution digital photograph of the individual's iris. The technology is based on the most mathematically unique biometric -- even between twins or an individual's right and left eyes -- the iris of the eye. The technology is non-intrusive - the individual does not need to touch anything to use the system.

Iris recognition is proven to have the highest biometric accuracy, with no false matches in over two million cross-comparisons, according to Biometric Product Testing Final Report March 2001, Center for Mathematics and Scientific Computing, National Physics Laboratory, U.K.). The human iris is absolutely unique, even between twins or an individual's right and left eyes. The iris itself is stable throughout a person's life (approximately from the age of one).

These are rare tumors. They can be either primary tumors of the iris (e.g. malignant melanoma) or spread from another tumor (e.g. breast, lung). Treatment of these tumors depends on whether the tumor is growing and also whether there is any complication from the tumor (e.g. uncontrolled glaucoma). In the case of glaucoma that does not get better with medication, or if the tumor is growing quickly, it may be necessary to remove the entire eye.
