We use System Three Epoxy. It tolerates varied conditions better than other brands we have tested. System III is less sensitive to moisture and humidity and cures in a wider temperature range than its competitors. If you prefer using another brand, we will sell you the kit without epoxy. No problem.

Epoxy coatings are mainly used because of their outstanding chemical resistance, durability, low porosity and high bonding strength. KLASS KOTE epoxy coating will bond with almost all properly prepared surfaces. It will provide an attractive, long-lasting, chemically resistant, strong bonding, and a highly decorative film. We use marine epoxy with a non blushing clear coating hardener. We use this resin hardener combination for its outstanding clarity, exception all low blushing characteristics and superior flexibility with high bond strength. The pump set (included in the kit) takes all the guesswork (and mess) out of mixing epoxy. You can be secure knowing that you are building with the best!

You can - but you will loose all adhesive strength. At cone 04 what you have left is a white brittle material that is the alumina and silica in the epoxy, left after the resins burn off. It is meant to be used as a post-firing repair material.

The consensus of our most experienced members is that Titebond and hot hide glue work just fine, but they caution that you should glue the fresh joint immediately, and not let the wood sit unglued after you plane your joint.

Most of the time we see electrocoating being applied for one of two reasons. As a primer for other top coatings or as a single protective coating for components. Examples of the latter are under-body or under-hood automotive or other equipment components. Epoxy will perform best for these purposes. However, epoxy will form a chalk film on the surface if it is exposed to the ultraviolet rays from sunlight for a relatively short period of time.

It is recommended for those thin film applications for repairing, bonding, sealing, filling and many other applications where a thinner material is required. For larger gaps, crack, and areas to be filled, sealed or repaired use our A + B?epoxy putty.

A basic Epoxy system consists of two main elements namely an EPOXY RESIN and a CATALYST (HARDENER). The two elements is chemically balanced so that when they are combined, a chemical reaction will take place where the molecules of the two main elements will combine to form a new structure that will become hard and solid after a period of time. Each of these two basic elements is further complimented with additional additives depending on the final purpose of the epoxy.

Epoxy is a chemical reaction adhesive. It should be used for all Target? tile and treads as well as in areas where moisture could be an issue and in sterile applications such as operating suites. It must be used on metal and can be used on wood. #56 Latex adhesive can be used on clean concrete, clean wood and most other flooring and tread applications where the use of epoxy is not required.

A miner from the Lightning Ridge opal field in Australia sent 5 parcels or rough opal to 5 different cutters. Those that used dopping wax had the highest cracking rate. Those that used epoxy had the lowest cracking rate.

Over the years, folks have commonly used materials like mortar, concrete, wood putty, caulk and the like to fill and repair rotted portions of wood on houses, cabins, trim and furniture. Although these repairs apparently solved the current problems they all presented additional difficulties sometime in the not too distant future.

You can use fiberglass instead of the provided polyester skin, but we don't recommend it. While fiberglass requires less maintenance, it is actually more fragile than the skin that comes with the kit. The polyester skin will flex when it comes in contact with another object, whereas the fiberglass may crack and require extensive repair at home. If the polyester skin does get a hole in it, it is easy to do a field fix and continue on your way.

Testing appears to indicate that KLASS KOTE and Hobbypoxy/K&B Superpoxy are freely interchangeable. That is to say, that any of the components of any of the three will work equally as well together as the "correct" brand. Modelers who have a quantity of colors of Hobbypoxy or K&B but no catalysts or reducer for them, may possibly be able use up what they have by using Klass Kote catalyst and/or reducer.

The chemicals used to obtain the low flame spread rating will, over time, cause latex adhesive to fail.

No, epoxy resin is only needed when the foam inside the surfboard is exposed. In other words, when you can see and touch the foam. If you have a small ding in an area like the nose or tail where the XTR foam is exposed, you don't have to repair it. It will not change color or gain any weight due to the closed cell foam. The water will not penetrate the surfboard. You will only need to fix this small ding for cosmetics and for safety.

KLASS KOTE epoxy coating consists of two distinct components. Side A Epoxy Resin and Side B Curing Agent. The two components are mixed in a 1-to-1 ratio. A chemical reaction occurs between the two parts generating heat and turning the mixture into an inert, hard film with the previously mentioned characteristics. For the uncured Epoxy, Acetone /MEK can be used as cleaning compound. By heating upto 175°C, cured products will get dislodged.
