We require a score from one of the two national standardized tests for registration purposes. Students can take either the ACT or the SAT to satisfy this requirement. Presently, the writing component for each exam is not required.

We recommend a 1000-plus combined score on the SAT (Critical Reading and Math sections only) or a 22-plus on the ACT. Our mean SAT score for incoming freshman is 1070. The mean ACT score is 22. Although the SATs and ACTs are important indicators of your academic ability they are not the only indicators.

You will receive a scaled score of 1-36 on each of the 4 ACT tests (you will receive a raw score of 2-12 on your essay that represents the sum of the 1-6 scores from two graders). Your composite score on the ACT is the average of your 4 scores rounded to the nearest integer, so it is also a 1-36 score.
