In line with Government directives, we advise parents who take up the separate vaccines that their children finish the full course of injections. Parents will be asked to sign a consent form to this effect (a copy of this may be requested). There is sometimes a shortage of mumps vaccine; we do our best to inform patients of availability. Having single vaccinations gives a better immunity level than the combined MMR jab (97% vs 87%).

No vaccinations are required for entrance into Ghana , but you should go over the above recommendations for vaccination with your doctor. Global Crossroad STRONGLY suggests volunteers follow the Center for Disease Control's travel advice ( www.cdc.gov).

The World Health Organisation states that there must be at least 4 weeks between childhood vaccinations. Accordingly, we leave a gap of 6 weeks between appointments. Please note that patients should also leave a gap after/before HIB vaccination.

Young kittens need a series of vaccinations ("kitten shots") to help protect them from feline Herpesvirus (Rhinotracheitis), Calicivirus, and Panleukopenia. Many commonly given kitten shots also protect against Chlamydia. For the best immune response, the kitten shots are given at three- or four-week intervals from age 7 or 9 weeks to age 14 or 16 weeks. If your new cat is a rescued adult or older kitten, it may not have had its shots as a young kitten.

We use a C3 & B3 course of vaccination for all adult dogs, so a booster injection is only required annually.
