This comic doesn't exactly generate the big bucks. Occasionally, care individuals donate funds (a la the PayPal Link on the front page). This helps mainly with running costs (my monthly WebSlum "rent," pens and paper). We do have a store with Warehouse 23 if you want S*P related stuff.

Basically, Laura and Mike work on the script. Laura draws the picture and inks it. She scans it and emails the image to Mike. Mike uses Adobe Photoshop to add the title, lettering, and colour. Image work is done on a large 3300x3000 pixel image. It is then reduced to 640 pixels wide for publication on the web site.

About 2-3 hours each, assuming I don.t get interrupted or distracted. That includes writing the dialogue and crafting the actual strip, but not getting the idea. Usually, I come up with ideas while I am on the subway or eating lunch, so I don.t count that time. Top

No, I do not. I want people to go to the site and look at my advertising, news updates, and merchandise - this helps me keep the site going. Not everyone buys merchandise. Not everyone looks at or clicks on the ads - but I need someone to do it so that I can afford to maintain this site and I see no reason to block myself off from how I financially sustain the comic and myself (no, this is not an invitation for any, "But there are other ways to live than like a capitalist" emails.

Popeye began as a character in Elzie Segar's daily strip, Thimble Theatre . He quickly became popular and the Fleischer brothers, Max and Dave turned him into a cartoon in the early 30s. His first appearance was July 14, 1933 in the cartoon Popeye the Sailor

First of all, though he is known as a cold and "unamused" hermit, Lovecraft wrote parodies and had fun with his friend writers. Humor is not incompatible with his universe. And as many of his fans, I was marked deeply by his work and admire them, but after years of faithful adoration, I suppose I can take some distance and try to have fun with the rest of HPL's fans/readers out there. Of course this brings me to deal with un-politically correct subjects, such as death or religion.

Well, in the real world I'm a degree holding, graphic designer, with 13 years of illustration and graphic design experience. The only reason I'm doing a strip here is because I decided in guild chat one day to illustrate a joke that had been going through the guild about my character's method of increasing his Disarm Skill. My first comic however was a strip I did once weekly for the the college newspaper called "Mophead".

The "Yellow Kid," a character created by Richard Outcault, is generally considered the first. The Yellow Kid appeared in the New York Journal in 1896. The Kid was a buck-toothed, bald kid with big ears in a yellow shirt. Outcault later created "Buster Brown."

I spent some very intense early years learning the Macintosh computer (the Mac Plus: "for those who've always wanted power" - this was Apple's slogan back in 1986). Since then, I've been heavily involved with computers for producing graphic design and have experienced practically everything that can go wrong with them. So, when I started thinking of doing a comic strip, this was a natural area to draw material from.

It makes for a wonderful story. There are a lot of things about living in America that we identify as ever-present and unchanging, and our civil rights are one of them. The fact that they aren't as stable as we think allows for a lot of speculation in terms of plot options and characterization. In the interests of full disclosure, I should also point out that I thought up the idea one night while drunk and extremely pissed off at U.S. Customs for going through my international mail.

Because of the volume of submissions that we receive, and the fact that we consider every strip very carefully, it may take weeks or longer (possibly forever) to receive a response from us if we decide to invite you to join our group. Please be patient, and know that we're considering it as much as we did our current members. We do not send out rejection notices, because any strip may eventually prove it's got the goods to join Keenspot. We don't ever rule anyone out for good.

I write a week's worth of comic panels in longhand at a nearby coffee shop or at the mall food court. I rarely write in my studio. I try to have them written by the weekend. Then, on Saturday I try to have that week penciled and inked so that a week's worth of panels can be sent out early in the week. They are no longer sent out by snail mail like in the old days???now we email them to the syndicate. I never tire of writing and drawing the feature???it's always great fun to work on.

Currently, the artwork is not for sale. It is evenly split between Mike and Laura. If there is enough interest, the creators are looking into creating Vicki Fox artwork for sale at fandom conventions, such as Anthrocon.

Where's George? was not created to make money or collect email addresses or anything like that. It was created to simply allow people to track their currency as it circulates around the country and the world. The funds generated from the banner ads and the Friends program go to help pay for the hardware, software, and bandwidth it takes to keep the site running.
