Unfortunately, MP3 (MPEG Layer 3) audio files written to a CD-ROM can not be played by any of the current "mainstream" head units or CD changers. Many knowledgable individuals have spent hours installing PCs into their cars or building specialized hardware to play MP3 files in their car. Although many of these systems have been "hacked" together, there are now a number of commercially available systems that can be purchased and installed.

You can either play them on you computer if it has a sound card, speakers and software capable of playing the MP3 Format or buy a portable MP3 Player.

Yeah, I have both the computers I regularly use connected to stereo systems by cables - I just bought cables from Radio Shack, with a stereo 1/8" plug on one end and two RCA jacks on the other, and I plug the cable into the "line-out" of my audio card and the "aux-in" of my equalizer / mixer. There are programs that claim to be able to take MP3 files and decode them and burn them to an audio CD all in one operation... MP3 CD Maker is one such program. I believe Nero can also do this. Well... I do play my MP3 files through my stereo systems, both in my office and in the living room. But what I'm doing is not really "hi-fi". Well... it probably sounds better than what was considered "hi-fi" in my youth, but it wouldn't come anywhere near to meeting current "audiophile" standards, which is what I get the impression you are aiming for. Before CDex 1.10 you can only encode WAV files, but not the other way around. There are several tools available which can do this job. Take a look at www.mp3.com and look for utilities like WinAmp or MaPlay.

Yes. You can use an FM modulator, which broadcasts your device's audio signal to an unused FM frequency. Note that several Touareg owners have reported that this setup results in unacceptable audio quality. You can also use AUX input adapter and cable to connect your device directly to the NAV system using the "AUX" input. This results in much better sound quality than the FM modulator. If you just want the songs to merge together somewhat, with a new song coming up as the old one fades away, you can use the Nullsoft Cross-Fader Plugin, which you can download from www.winamp.com under Plugins / Effects. You'll probably need to get the new version of Winamp also - but that's alright, it's free now.

There are a couple of Winamp plugins for normalizing the volume of songs as you play them - they don't actually change the MP3 files on disk at all, they just try to make Winamp play at a "standard" volume. You can download these plugins from the main Winamp site (www.winamp.com). Strangely enough they are not under Plugins / Output (which is where I would have put them) - one is under Plugins / General and the other under Plugins / Effects.
