The LLM program is for lawyers with a formal background in legal studies. The MCLS, however, does not have this limitation.

Both degrees require 30 semester credits. However, the Masters of Engineering degree consists primarily of coursework with an advanced practicum of 2-4 credits and the Masters of Science consists of a research project or research thesis which consists of 2-9 credits. The Masters of Engineering degree also provides more flexibility in coursework a student may wish to take outside the department.

LL.M. is Latin for Legum Magister, signifying Master of Laws. In Latin abbreviations, the plural form of a word is indicated by doubling the letter - hence the "LL." is short for Laws. The word "legum" is the possessive plural form of the Latin word lex that means specific laws.

The MT and MAT degrees are designed to allow degree candidates to earn an initial teaching certificate. The MEd is designed for certified teachers to pursue graduate studies and earn a master's degree (you can not be admitted to the MEd without a teaching certificate or it's equivalent including teaching experience). The MT is designed for students who complete an undergraduate degree at USC including undergraduate core education course requirements.

Graduates who have earned an Associate in Applied Science with a major in Nursing or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing take the same national nursing licensure exam (NCLEX-RN?) and are registered nurses after they pass the exam. A generic BSN degree takes 4 years to complete, and requires more general education credits, and credits in nursing theory, research, leadership, management, and community nursing.

These are the designations for the degrees offered by allopathic and osteopathic medical schools. Allopathic medical schools, which the majority of medical schools are, award an MD - Doctor of Medicine degree. Osteopathic medical schools award a DO - Doctor of Osteopathy degree. The differences in these two "types" of doctors have been shrinking over the past few years. The principle difference is the philosophy of medicine.
