Personally, I feel you cannot compare the beauty of an original painting to a poster. It's difficult to tell the difference unless you have both, hand painted tiles and reproduction, in front of you. It is like seeing two pictures in a book. One is the picture of the original art, and the other is the picture of a poster.

Only an expert can tell, and even they are sometimes fooled. They look for paper condition and print quality, printer's marks and numbers, picture and paper size. Digital File : The most important element of giclee printing is the digital file. We scan your original work using a high resloution digital camera to create this digital file. Camera Scan : The digital camera directly captures the image creating a hi-resolution file. Traditionally, the image is captured on film and is then scanned. However, this latter process leads to a loss of color accuracy, detail and does introduce 'noise' from the emulsion on the film when enlarged.

We need a digital file to print from. We can scan most flat originals, even on rigid board and some mounted canvas prints up to A4 original size (297mm x 210mm) to very high quality inhouse and can enlarge them to much bigger sizes if required. Once we have this file on disk simply order an A4 or A3 proof to check for colour and quality. This can be colour adjusted if required to get it as close as possible to the original, before you order further final prints.
