Most COE staff members in program areas have operational, in-the-field, experience. Typically they have performed more than one role and/or have the ability to bridge cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary boundaries and appreciate the "big picture" and broad perspective necessary for coordination in complex humanitarian events. Some are retired military; others have experience working for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and the UN. They also have solid academic backgrounds.

To add backgrounds, go to the Stages drawer, double-click the desired stage, and look for the background variable. Click down on the small triangle to see the menu for "get background." Stagecast Creator comes with some sample images, but you can also make your own or find images on the internet. Background images can be in GIF or JPEG image format. You can set the "background position" variable to tile, center, or scale your image.

For fast access to the Gallery/Thumbnail files, open the readme file that comes with your download. You'll find a link to a browser based (html) thumbnail gallery. The charts can't be in the zip as separated files. They are the part of pre-made template. Please open template-17.pot and you will see 17 additional slides with charts. Then I print my slides or convert them to a PDF-file a dark square appears at the bottom of the picture! There is a gradient at the bottom of the second slides.

Any *.bmp file can be used as a background. Digital cameras typically save files as *.jpg. Use "Paint" which comes with Windows (Under Accessories in Programs) to convert jpg to bmp. There are about 20 backgrounds that come on your CD; feel free to use them in any way you wish, but making a personalized background is an extremely effective method of linking to your audience.

Yes. Any image that is in .bmp format can be used as a background. Use your favourite graphics program to design a background and save it in .bmp format. Save your background in your comic art folder (C:\Program Files\Microsoft Chat\Comicart).
