One of wood's inherent characteristics is that, as a natural product, it expands and contracts when exposed to varying temperature and humidity. All wood floors will move over the course of a year, and the way that a particular house handles seasonal changes will play a big part in determining how much the floor will move. Other considerations include the width of the floorboards and the species of wood.

Cost, mobility, and longevity are major considerations when selecting flooring. For permanent setups, nothing is better than our hand-crafted redwood interior floors. Made in our facility, our tipi floors (or decks) provide comfort and warmth while ensuring a dry and clean interior to your tipi. For overall comfort and lifetime value nothing beats a Reese Tipi redwood floor. For mobile or more primitive tipis, we prefer a flame and mold resistant material such as our Starfire flooring.

Hardwood can be placed over a standard sub-floor with 16" or 19.5" joist on center with a 5/8 plywood, although 3/4 would be preferred. Please note that hardwood can not go the same direction as the joist it should go

Woods range in color and in tone. White Pine and Spruce, for example, are both light in color. Either species, however, can be milled lightly for a deeper tone and perhaps more rustic character or milled to a bright and smooth finish. This range due to milling can be dramatic. Some species, such as Chestnut, range deeply in color, from light to dark -- sometimes even within the same board. Other species, such as the Heart Pine, are very consistent in color and tone.

Stability of the product is related to the expiration date, which delineates the period of time for which the product has been tested and demonstrates compatibility with the potency of the label claim.

If floor is already 5/8 you need to add another 5/8 of exterior grade plywood screwed every 6" on outside perimeter and 8" in body of plywood.

Flooring can also vary with respect to character. Some of the different aspects to consider include grain and clarity/rusticity. Wood can be cut either perpendicular to the growth rings (quartersawn or vertical grain) or parallel to them (flatsawn or plainsawn). Quartersawn material is a more formal and linear look, while flatsawn material reveals more movement from the growth rings. Wood can range in its clarity with respect to knots.

BB: An important question . . . Stability is another advantage of NON-GELSô over softgels. NON-GELSô control odor and leakage effectively, and don't melt like gelatin, which is a big plus in the international market, where you're sending product to hot, humid climates. Also internationally, there's a huge potential market in those parts of the world with vegetarian traditions.

Virtually any floor surface can be installed directly over the ZMesh, including tile, slate, marble, hardwood and carpet.
