The year code shall correspond to the last numeral of the year of production. Example: 2002 would be coded as 2.

In the USA, our products have a standard "Use by Date" which is one (1) year from the date they are manufactured. In Canada, our products use a "Julian Date" to indicate the date of manufacture. The Julian Code is a four number code that is an expiration date; the first three numbers tell the day of the year and the fourth number is the year. If the numbers are followed by letters then AV is the plant where the product is made and the other letters explain the product. For example if the code is 0438AVGFG it means the 43rd day of 2008 and GFG means Gefilte Fish Gold for the product Premium Gold Gefilte Fish.

Some labels may print with very high density bar code, such as 4 mil (0.10mm), and most scanners may only read up to 5 mil (0.125mm) code. In which case, please contact us, we have high density scanner for that purpose. Try to hold the wand like holding a pen, with 14 to 30 degree angle, scan the bar code label with a natrual way from either left to right or to left. Usually the readers or scanners have default settings to read certain types of bar code symbologies like UPC, EAN, Code 30...etc.

Blowfish cipher algorithm is freely available on the Internet. One can download it for appropriate implementation and build the program. We use triple 128-bit encryption keys. Code 39 is one of the most widely used bar code symbologies. It can accommodate both alpha and numeric characters and, very conveniently, Code 39 fonts are widely available to create labels with common word-processing programs. Like all bar codes, Code 39 contains start and stop characters that define the beginning and end of a string of information on a label. Code 39 uses an asterisk (*) for both the start and the stop characters.
