Most voice therapists are speech-language pathologists and not singing teachers. Singing teachers teach people how to sing and voice therapists help to restore normal vocal function to injured voices. Singing teachers have their own associations and are not licensed to practice voice therapy as a medical specialty. There are however a few singing teachers who are speech-language pathologists with a license to practice voice therapy and who also teach singing.

Sacred Harp singing, and the American singing-school movement of which it was a part, have antecedents in efforts by John Playford to teach note-reading to London parish clerks in the late seventeenth century. The earliest American tunebooks borrowed their methods and repertory almost wholly from Playford's psalters and method books.

audience will never hear your voice the way you do. The sound you hear is a mixture of inner and outer hearing. Sound is vibrations. That means when you hear your voice you are not only hearing the sound travelling from your vocal cords, into the air, and then into the ears (the outer route), but also from the cords, through the inside of the skull, to the ears (the inner route). This inner route is called bone conduction.

You are probably trying to sing too high with too much vocal thickness - in which case, your larynx is overloaded. Or, you may be employing an unnatural breathing method. All modern breath support methods induce over-compression, which fatigues the voice.

FTP is like 'My Computer' for your website. It will allow you to login to your webspace and view the files on your webserver. When you have created your web site you need a way to send those files and images to your webserver so they can be viewed when someone goes to www.yoursite.com. This is where the FTP program comes in... it allows you to take the files on your computer's hard-drive and 'upload' them to your webserver.

In order to upload files to your Web site you will need FTP Client software or Web Design Software with FTP capabilities. If you are using Blogger or other blog tools the FTP tools are built in. It's just semantics. People who look to begin singing usually ask for "singing lessons" but people who teach singing most often call themselves "voice teachers" or advertise "voice lessons" because they teach you how to master the use of your instrument, which is your voice. Just like in piano lessons, where you master the instrument, the piano. You may also see ads for "vocal coaches".

Many voice teachers will make their students sing scales until the cows come home. The singing of scales trains the ear, not the voice. Worse still, is that many teachers make their students sing scales wrongly. That does more harm to the voice than good.
