cc – 50cc scooters are restricted to 30 miles per hour. This is ideal for short journeys, nipping around town, getting into central London and if you want to take a passenger. The minimum age requirement is 16. cc - If you’re an advanced rider or need to go on roads above 30mph, such as A-roads, a 125cc scooter is more suitable although you can’t take passengers. They are not restricted and can reach 65mph. You need to be 17 to ride one.

If you passed your test before 2001 and have a full car license you can ride up to a 50cc scooter with 'L' plates, unless you are otherwise prohibited. If you passed your test after this date you would need to apply to the DVLA for a provisional bike license and complete a CBT.
