Like in any emerging scientific field, new career paths for MBE graduates are constantly developing on the local, national and international level. Some of our students go on to further study in doctoral programs; others teach, lead educational programs, pursue educational research, or find some other interesting niche in the field. All MBE graduates become skilled consumers of scientific and educational research.

Jobs for Georgia's Graduates (JGG) is a school-to-work transition program designed to provide high school students with preemployment training, work skills, motivational activities, and job development services. The program is a partnership among local schools, businesses, communities, and the Georgia Department of Labor. JGG is affiliated with the Jobs for America's Graduates (JAG), the nation's largest school-to-work system, serving 70,000 youth in 26 states.

The program requires approximately 12 months of full-time study. The Fall semester begins in early September, and the Summer term usually ends in the middle of the following August.

Some go into primary care (many at our institution or elsewhere in the San Francisco Bay Area), and the rest choose subspecialty training or hospitalist work. Ten of our graduates are hospitalists on California Pacific's staff. We are proud of our record of obtaining excellent fellowships for our graduates. The IST degree prepares graduates for a wide range of careers that call for a solid scientific and technological background, excellent communication skills, the ability to work effectively in teams, and the flexibility to adapt to changing work conditions.

The majority of the doctoral program's graduates accept positions conducting research and/or teaching in universities and research institutions throughout the world. Other graduates choose to join governmental organizations or think thanks that conduct relevant social policy research and analysis. A few opt to re-enter the social services field in an executive capacity.
