Can the ThunderBolt be powered by an external power adapter?
Frequently Asked QuestionsYes. The ThunderBolt may be powered by the supplied power adapter. The adapter jack is labeled "9V DC" and is located on the back of the unit above the batttery compartment door. Only Spectrum-approved low-noise adapters are recommended for use with the ThunderBolt. IntelliGolf Frequently Asked QuestionsIntelliGolf includes the ability to connect to an external GPS receiver using Bluetooth. Based upon continued improvements in GPS technology, you will probably find that the newer external (third-party) GPS receivers offer increased accuracy and speed over integrated GPS receivers. Sounds fun. So what's a GPS receiver?
Buxley's Geocaching Waypoint - Frequently Asked QuestionsGPS stands for "Global Positioning System," a series of two dozen satellites in low Earth orbit that continuously broadcast their position. GPS receivers are able to triangulate on these signals and determine your location on the Earth's surface. Once you select a cache and enter its coordinates into the GPS receiver, the receiver can tell you how far away the cache is and in what direction it lies. See similar questions...
Can I connect my GPS receiver via USB?
EADS N.V. - FAQs - Frequently Asked QuestionsA USB cable and the presence of USB connections are not yet adequate for exchanging data successfully. However, data transfer can be effected using a USB cable if a serial COM Port is emulated by the GPS receiver. What can I do, if my over data cable attached GPS receiver does not work?
Wayviewer - Frequently Asked QuestionsThe NMEA default Baud rate is 4800 Bit/s. Some GPS receivers deviate however from it. The SC-GPS-1 JENTRO runs e.g. with 115200 Bit/s. Please set the appropriate Baud rate in the menu "Options" in GPSViewer, Wayviewer, and LocViewer. That means that the GPS receiver could successfully be connected, but that no useful data come in. That can be due to a wrong Baud rate setting or because wrong NMEA sentences are sent. Then the GPS receiver must be configured suitably (see above). See similar questions...
What type of power does PC/104 require?
PC/104 Embedded Systems FAQ, EBX, Linux, Real Time, data acq...Like ISA the bus, PC/104 has 4 voltages available: +5v, -5v, +12v, -12v. The +5v supply is the most important and many PC/104 systems can run using it alone. Current levels range from 100ma up to many amps depending on the perpherials in the system. Vendors detail the power requirements for each module on their data bus. The other voltages: -5v, -12v, and +12v are often only needed at very small current - less than 50ma. See similar questions...
