Flakes are caused by calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate precipitates. When hard water is frozen or boiled, the carbonates in the water come out of solution, appearing as whitish flakes and attaching to containers. This calcium is the same as that in dairy products and is harmless. Soft water does not have any calcium or magnesium carbonate deposits, but the use of soft water is not recommended.

Commercially made ice is stirred as it is being frozen and household ice is not. Without mixing, many more ice crystals form and air is trapped in the ice. Light rays are distorted by these crystals and this distortion gives home frozen ice a cloudy appearance. Yes. The ice cube thickness can be adjusted using the digital control. While holding the "up arrow" button, press the "down arrow" button three times. The display will now start to flash the cube thickness setting. Press the up or down arrow to change the setting. The available setting range is "-5" to "+5", with +5 being the thickest setting, and -5 being the least thick. The units are shipped from the factory set at zero "0".

The CUBEs are made out of veneer sheet goods (plywood) and hardwoods. The sides, top panel and drawer fronts are cut from veneer sheet goods and all the corners and drawer pulls are made form solid oak. The cabinet is assembled by hand using glue blocks and dowels. The reason we do not make the CUBEs entirely out of solid oak is because of the tendency for solid oak to split, warp and crack. This does not happen with sheet goods. Your CUBE looks like solid oak but doesn't act like it.

Your detail levels MUST be set to Highest in order for D2_3DFX to work properly. Run your original Descent2.exe and set your detail levels to "Highest", then re-run D2_3DFX. That should fix the problem. Note also that you should set your Screen Resolution to 640x480 in the original Descent2.exe - this will prevent D2_3DFX from switching to a really small screen size whenever you make changes to your settings.
