The contract between Disney and Tokuma states that Disney cannot make any changes to the film other than dubbing it. Mr. Tokuma, the president of Tokuma Publishing, and Mr. Suzuki, the producer at Ghibli, both have stated "There will be no cuts," in various interviews. That did not prevent Disney from asking (or pressuring) Tokuma to make some cuts. However, Ghibli and Miyazaki said "no" to such suggestions.

I have no idea. It's a shame really, they sold like hot cakes from what I remember, my Mom in 1985 went to about 10 stores to find them and they were always sold out because they were so popular.

Disney censores "Boy Meets World" quite heavily because unlike Disney's other kiddie shows, "Boy Meets World" deals with mature issues and down to earth stuff. Disney feels that some of the material isn't suitable for their target age audience - 5 yrs thru 15 yrs - also the company probably experiences complaints from different people, parents in particular. As for the banning of episodes, they are as follows. Episodes 107 and 111, Season 5; and Episode 133, Season 6.
