A septic system should effectively accept liquid wastes from your house and prevent biological and nutrient contaminants from getting into your well into nearby lakes and streams. Anytime these things do not happen, the system is failing. For example, when waste backs up into your home or liquid is bubbling up in your backyard, the system has obviously failed.

When the pores of undisturbed soil surrounding the leach field clog, the effluent cannot seep into the ground.

A stinky area of wet, soggy soil, sometimes with visible water, may appear. Sewage may back up into the house and toilets may not flush properly.

Heart failure is a clinical syndrome said to present when the heart fails to adequately pump enough blood to meet the body's needs. The terms congestive heart failure or "CHF" are also used to describe this syndrome. Symptoms a patient may experience include exertional fatigue, shortness of breath with activity, shortness of breath lying down, and shortness of breath at rest.

Sewage is carried from the house to the tank via gravity - no motors, no fossil-fuel energy consumption, no noise. Wastewater goes from the tank to the drain field - also via gravity - where microorganisms in the soil digest and purify bacteria and viruses.

On some OS/390 and z/OS systems, the Missing Interrupt Handler (MIH) values for tape may be set too low, either deliberately or by default. The problem is discussed in IBM information APAR II13332. To get around the problem, you can temporarily increase the MIH values for tape on your system using the following MVS console command: SETIOS MIH,TAPE=20:00 Note: MIH values are specified in the IECIOSxx member of SYS1.PARMLIB.

Septic inspections may be called in to our office Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. All inspection requests received during this period will be inspected that same day. Please provide the permit number and a phone number where you can be reached and an approximate time the system will be ready for inspection. Inspections are worked into an efficiency schedule for each Environmentalist.

Your septic tank should be pumped at least once every 3-5 years. It may need to be pumped more frequently if there is a large number of people living in the house. Consult the Test Drill map to locate your parcel. The location of your parcel within Sacramento County will help determine the type of system needed for that area

In some cases, it is possible to connect an additional mobile home or ancillary building to your existing septic system, provided the existing system is capable of handling the additional load. Contact the Water Protection staff at 916-875-8400 for further information.

This particular problem is mainly due to an internal head amplifier failure or, more seriously, a head crash or misalignment problem, the majority of which are recoverable.
