Will Biodiesel be cheaper than petrol-diesel?

Green Car Company
We have seen a few occurrences where Biodiesel has actually been cheaper and the prices are continuing to get closer and closer together. That being said unless specific governmental regulation prohibiting petrol-diesel sales, or requiring Biodiesel sales is enacted Biodiesel will always stay slightly more expensive that petrol-diesel. Biodiesel is a direct substitute that is a higher quality product. It is a higher quality product because it produces significantly less environmental impacts. See similar questions...

Can I use gasoline engine oil in my diesel car and vice versa?

Veloil Company Limited.
Gasoline and diesel engines operate according to different engineering principles and burn completely different fuels. Gasoline engines require a volatile, high octane fuel whereas diesel engines run on a low octane and relatively low volatility fuel. Gasoline engines usually operate at higher temperatures and because of their composition and the high temperatures produce entirely different combustion products than does diesel fuel operation. Will it work for my gasoline (petrol) car?

FAQ - PlantDrive? International - convert diesel to run on v...
No. This is only for diesel engines. Diesels work by compressing air much more than is the case with a gasoline (petrol) engine. This creates high temperatures, and causes a fine mist of injected oil to self-ignite from the heat of compression and combust. The fine mist ("atomized") oils injected into the cylinder just before the piston reaches the top of the compression stroke. There is no spark plug or ignition system in a diesel engine. It is designed to burn a light viscosity oil. See similar questions...

What are the differences in emissions from diesel and petrol engines?

AECC - Association for Emissions Control by Catalyst
Because maximum power production from diesel engines is fuel and not air limited it is still the only engine that is "lean burn" across the full power/speed range. This brings real fuel and carbon dioxide emission savings - good for the global environment. But it challenges the catalyst chemist to control nitrogen oxide and particulate emissions at low exhaust temperatures with excess oxygen. See similar questions...

FAQ15: What is better to run, petrol or diesel ?

Both. You pays your money and you takes your choice. Given two engines of similar size and assuming good condition, the diesel will be nominally cheaper to run, but will not like running on no load or light load. The petrol engines will run better at low speeds and on light load, but they loose more fuel through evaporation than diesels. I have all diesels, excepting the smaller engines such as a pair of Lister D's, a Wolseley and two Bamfords, all petrol. See similar questions...

Why is the price of diesel often higher than the price of petrol?

FuelWatch
Consumers often ask why the price of diesel is sometimes higher than petrol, in the belief that diesel is a low-cost product to produce. Although diesel requires less crude oil per litre, it is not a 'waste' product and new Commonwealth Fuel Quality Standards for lower sulphur diesel require a more complex refining process. Will diesel cars be treated the same as petrol cars? What is the diesel supplement?

Car tax issues - reform of taxation on company cars
For diesel cars the percentage based on the CO2 figure will be increased by 3%. So if the percentage based on CO2 is 18%, the percentage used to calculate the car benefit charge will be 21%. But the supplement can 't take the percentage above 35% See similar questions...

B100 is compatible will ALL diesel engines as long a few precautions are taken. See similar questions...

Can you explain to me how a glow engine works? Is it just like a diesel truck engine?

SuperTigre Engines - Product Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ...
Glow engines are a hybrid between diesel and gasoline engines in regards to their mode of operation. In a glow engine, the catalytic action of the platinum glow plug coil is what ignites the fuel-air charge rather than a spark or the heat due to compression of the mixture in the chamber. As a consequence, the compression ratio used tends to be higher than in a gasoline engine but lower than a diesel engine. See similar questions...
