Will Nits Hatch?

NIX LICE TREATMENT
No product on the market will kill 100% of the eggs; however, with the residual left in the hair, any nits that are left will probably die shortly after hatching. We always recommend removing all of the nits to most effectively eliminate lice.

WHAT ARE "NITS"?

Head Lice FAQ - ENT/rsc-8
Nits are louse eggs. They are small (about 1/32 inch), white to cream color, and oval in shape with a distinct cap. Nits are often the first sign of a head lice infestation.

Will Nits fallout?

NIX LICE TREATMENT
Nits are fastened or cemented to the hair shaft. They will not fall off of the hair, as the hair grows the nits will grow out with it.

How can you tell if Nits are alive or dead?

NIX LICE TREATMENT
Nits are very small, so it is difficult to tell if a nit is alive or dead. Experts say empty eggshells are whitish in color while intact live eggs are tan to coffee color but since it is so difficult to tell, all nits dead or alive should be removed.

Is it difficult to comb Nits out of hair?

NIX LICE TREATMENT
Unfortunately combing a child's hair can be a painful, long process. It may help to comb tangles from your child's hair with a regular comb first. Then try dividing the hair into sections prior to combing. It this still doesn't work you may want to consider purchasing a metal nit comb which may be more durable at your local drug store.

What should be done if new Nits are discovered?

NIX LICE TREATMENT
you have probably seen it is very difficult to distinguish if nits are alive or dead but regardless you will want to remove them and do not retreat unless it is 7 days or more after the initial treatment. (It is very important to re-clean the environment if new nits are discovered on a person's head.)

What if you can't see the nits to pick them out?

head louse treatment and prevention FAQs
Check for and remove nits in bright light - daylight is best. Sit near a window and shine a bright light on the infested person's head. If you have poor eyesight, get someone to help you or purchase a blue vision visor which magnifies nits 2 1/2 times at a distance of 8".

Will the nits fall out after treatment?

Head Lice FAQ - Banlice
No such luck. A special protein virtually 'glues' the nits to the hair follicles and there's no product that can dislodge them. To get rid of them, use a fine-toothed comb or your fingernails. It's difficult, but must be done! Banlice® is one of the best products for children because as a mousse, it's easy to use and control. So it minimises the chance of excess liquid dripping in their eyes.

How do I hatch baby brine shrimp?

Frequently Asked Cichlid Questions
Hatching baby brine is relatively easy. You can go the your local pet store and buy a hatching kit which includes brine shrimp eggs and a hatcher and follow the included instructions. Purchase a brine shrimp net if one is not included in the kit. You can also build a hatcher of your own out of a one-gallon jar with an airstone or as I do, use an inverted 3-liter bottle with air feeding from the narrow neck. I cut the bottom out of the bottle and save as a cover.

How long for the eggs to hatch?

FAQ
The female lays one egg a day. After she lays the last egg there is a two week gestation period before hatching. (Incubation does not start until all the eggs are laid.)

What do Head Lice/Nits look like?

Head Lice are tiny brown insects about the size of a sesame seed. Visible Nits are tiny, whitish ovals. They are firmly glued to the hair shaft, most often near the scalp. Nits may be mistaken for dandruff but unlike dandruff, nits cannot be brushed off or removed by normal shampooing and washing.

How do I eliminate eggs (or nits) from my child's hair?

Head Lice Frequently Asked Questions
Killing lice is only solving half the problem - you must also remove the eggs that produce lice, which are called nits. If you don't remove the nits completely, lice will come back, possibly in larger numbers than before. Nits are attached to the hair with a glue-like substance and shampooing alone will not remove them. That's why eggs/nits must be completely combed out of the hair after using a lice killing shampoo.

How do head lice and nits differ?

Head lice and hair lice
Head lice are the insects that crawl around on your head. Nits are actually clusters of tiny white sacs that contain eggs. Nits generally cluster close to the skin but they can also appear on individual hair strands. If you try to remove the nits, you probably will pull hairs out because they are firmly attached. You need not worry about nits that you see further down on hair strands. These hatched a while back and they'll just grow out.

How long does it take chicks to hatch after they start to pip?

Poultry FAQs
Although there is individual variation, approximately 80% of the chicks will hatch within 15 hours after the first chick hatches (slightly less for waterfowl). A hatch should be completed within 24 hours. Hold eggs that have not hatched by this time to your ear. You can assume the egg will not hatch if you do not hear movement. Or better yet, candle them to determine the progress. Smaller eggs in a lot hatch faster than the larger eggs.

Should I open the incubator to check on the progress of the hatch?

Poultry FAQs
No, opening the incubator lowers the temperature and humidity which delays hatching and may lower hatchability. Be patient, wait until most of the chicks are hatched and dried off before opening the incubator.
