What is AES?

Polycom VSX 7000s FAQ
Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), standard on every VSX 7000s product, is a secure method in which both people and content are encrypted for transmission during a video call. This means that the information cannot be "tapped" or "overheard" by anyone outside the call and both the video and content of your call is secure. Polycom's implementation of AES is FIPS 197 compliant and conforms to the prescribed AES standards as set forth by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

Can PowerArchiver read AES encrypted ZIP files?

PowerArchiver 2007 - Frequently Asked Questions
From version 9.0, PowerArchiver supports the latest ZIP AES standards. More information can be found on the features page.

How is AES Funded?

FAQs
AES is funded by subscriber revenues, just like your electric, water and sewer services are funded by rate payers. Initial startup capital is coming from its parent department, Auburn Electric, in the form of an intra-department loan. By design, AES is self-sufficient, with no cross-subsidization. Auburn's history speaks loudest in its drive to move forward. Broadband has now become the equivalent of what the electric utility industry was at the close of the 19th Century.

How are AES products different?

Professional Antimold Solutions
The contrast between AES products and a biocide is critical. The AES solution is a 2 part non-toxic solution that attacks the mold and mycotoxins. When using a biocide the spore may rupture, releasing sub microbial particles coated with toxic chemicals. Straight application of disinfectants or stabilizers that destroy the mold cell wall may not neutralize the associated chemical toxicant. The particles may be inhaled leading to adverse affects.

Why is the solution used by AES better than others?

Professional Antimold Solutions
No other product will neutralize mycotoxins and is non-toxic, non-corrosive, non-flammable and environmentally friendly. Our solution is the most cost effective process being used that can eliminate mold and mold by-products (mycotoxins). Our solution has the potential to save our clients millions of dollars in remediation costs.

How can we be sure the product will do what AES claims?

Professional Antimold Solutions
AES always recommends third party independent clearance testing. We also offer warranties on our treatments.

What is AES encryption and why is it important?

Powertech - Products - Encryption
AES is the acronym for Advanced Encryption Standard. This is the encryption method adopted by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (www.nist.gov) after reviewing many encryption alternatives. It is now the federal standard for encryption (FIPS-197) and will replace Triple DES encryption in the near future. Although Triple DES is considered secure, you should avoid using it as it will soon be removed as a federal standard.

Are there differences in AES key sizes?

Powertech - Products - Encryption
Yes, AES encryption supports different key sizes including 128-bit and 256-bit keys. The Alliance products from Patrick Townsend & Associates implement the 256-bit key size for encryption to insure the strongest encryption level. In addition to providing stronger encryption, our performance tests showed very little difference in CPU utilization with the stronger algorithm. The Visa PCI-CISP recommendation is for 256-bit AES and Alliance will meet this recommendation perfectly.

Are there differences in how AES encryption is implemented?

Powertech - Products - Encryption
Yes, AES supports two different modes of operation known as Stream mode and CTR, or counter, mode. Most AES encryption applications work in stream mode. That is, they accept one chunk of data and the key you specify, and return the encrypted data as a result. Many of these stream mode applications require that the data be padded to an 8 byte or 16 byte boundary. That is, if you have a 6 byte field you have to pad the field to 8 bytes in order to encrypt it.

How much do we have to pay to use the AES service?

Atlas Education Services » Faq &
The processing fee is vary and will depend on few aspects such as the institution or the country of destination, etc. This processing fee will cover all the procedures, from the stage of finding the most suitable institution, application process up until you are ready to leave. We charge the processing fee in US$. You may pay in Rupiah by following the day to date's conversion. You require to pay when you already decided to use our service. This fee is not refundable.

What is the Automated Export System (AES)?

Export Questions
AES is an electronic reporting system jointly developed by Census and Customs which allows exporters to electronically transmit to Census the information required on Shippers' Export Declaration (SED).

What encryption algorithm should we be using? What is AES?

Solutions - Enterprise Trustset
Previously, the best known encryption algorithm in the world was DES (Data Encryption Standard) developed by IBM where it was codenamed Lucifer. Many questions had been raised in the security communities over the continuing safety of that algorithm given the available computer power today to break that algorithm. There were already several algorithms available that were thought to be more resistant to attack than DES. These included CAST, RC2, RC4, Blowfish, Triple or 3-DES.

Who can get AES services today?

FAQs
Because AES was initially created to service a very specific customer type (high demand business), its fiber infrastructure, design and pricing reflects such a niche market. If you are a business customer that needs truly dedicated Internet bandwidth, 100Mb and 1000Mb secure data network WAN connectivity, or data center co-location space today, AES is serving you right now.

Will wireless service be part of AES?

FAQs
Wireless offers the advantages of quick deployment and relatively low cost. However, wireless is challenged in scalability, reliability and security. Trees and buildings cause wireless problems...just consider the reliability of your cell phone. It does offer the advantage of mobility. AES is considering a total system approach that will incorporate wireless technologies where they make the most sense. Remote access points, wireless "hot spots" and special events needs (ACD Festival, etc.

Can I subscribe to AES at home?

FAQs
Your Board of Works and City Council are reviewing this possibility. A recently completed study indicates strong support from businesses and residents and concludes that AES-offered broadband services would be a positive development in Auburn.
