The windows hotfix KB892489 corrects a memory leak that can occur in Windows XP SP2. The symptoms caused by this issue are explained further at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/892489/en-us When viewing Help, About within OfficeScan Main, pattern file number is missing, and version may report as 6.0 instead of 7.3. All symptoms disappear after rebooting. If you notice these symptoms, install the Hotfix KB892489 and reboot.

This problem is solved in recent Cygwin/X releases. Use cygwin setup to upgrade the xorg-x11-xwin package. The older X11 releases on the various commercial unices define the AltGr key as ModeSwitch, MetaR, AltR or similar. Cygwin/X expects it to be ISO_Level3_Switch. For reasons unknown to us this is reset when loggin into the remote host. As far as we don't have access to such a machine we are unable to track this down and find a reason.
