Question: Does the color of cement have bearing on its strength?

Century Cement- F.A.Q.
Answer: No, the color of cement does not affect the strength of cement in anyway. It just gives a proper finish to the concrete. There is a general misconception that the cement that is darker in color has greater strength, this is not true and the cement that is lighter in color not only has the same strength but also has a more pleasing finish than the cement that is darker in color.

Question: What effect does the water/cement ration have on the strength of concrete?

Century Cement- F.A.Q.
Answer: The water cement ratio is very important with regards to the strength of concrete. The strength of concrete is inversely proportional to the water cement ratio i.e. with teh increase in water content the compressive strength of concrete decreases and vice versa.

Question: Does the color of oil have any bearing on its lubrication ability?

Frequently Asked Questions... Filtakleen USA.
Answer: None whatsoever. Detergent oil will turn a dark blue-black after it is heated. Non-detergent oil will turn a reddish-brown. Most diesel engines will turn oil black in the first few minutes of running time because of the ashley additive in diesel fuel. The only accurate way to determining an oil's lubricating value or contamination level is through oil analysis or a portable oil quality analyzer, such as the Lubri-Sensor Oil Quality Analyzer.

Does color have an effect on the taste and strength of a tobacco?

Pipe Smoker's FAQ Section
Contrary to common belief, NOT, at least not always. Black Cavendish is jet black and yet is pretty mild, and so is Latakia (which is actually mistakingly believed to be a strong tobacco). A light brown Virginia is often a lot stronger than Latakia, for example. However, within the same type of tobacco, let's say Virginia, usually a tobacco lighter in color is milder than a darker one.

Question: What is setting of cement?

Century Cement- F.A.Q.
Answer: Setting is the stiffening of the cement paste after water is mixed. Broadly it refers to change of fluid to solid state.

Question: Why should cement be "fine"?

Century Cement- F.A.Q.
Answer: The rate of hydration of cement depends on the fineness of cement and for a rapid development of strength high fineness is necessary.

Question: What's the difference between cement and concrete?

Century Cement- F.A.Q.
Answer: Cement (sometime referred to as Portland Cement or hydraulic cement) is one component of concrete. Cement is to concrete what flour is to a loaf of bread. Concrete is basically a mixture of 2 components: aggregates and paste. The paste, comprised of cement and water, binds the aggregates (sand and stone or grael) into a rocklike mass as the paste hardens because of the chemical reaction of the cement and water. This reaction is called hydration.

Question: What is meant by "Soundness of cement"?

Century Cement- F.A.Q.
Answer: Cement may sometimes contain free lime, which may cause expansion; hence soundness test is conducted to see that even if uncombined lime is present in cement whether it is in prescribed limits. If it is within the prescribed limits then it is said to be sound and causes less expansion and cracks.

Question: How to store cement?

Century Cement- F.A.Q.
Answer: Proper storage of cement shall permit easy access for inspection and identification. Cement shoudl be stored in suitable weather, tight sructures, to protect the cement from dampness. It should not be piled more than ten bags in a stack and should be arranged in heather and stretcher fasion as far as possible. While removing the bags for use "FIRST IN FIRST OUT" rule should be applied.

What is the bond strength of RelyX??? Unicem Cement to metal posts?

RelyX??? Fiber Post FAQs 3M ESPE United States
There is internal 3M ESPE bond strength data of RelyX??? Unicem cement with other fiber posts. Most metal posts used are serrated, have retention grooves or some other type of shape which aids in mechanical retention. Currently there is no bond strength data on file between RelyX Unicem cement and metal based posts. But other tests about adhesion of RelyX Unicem cement to typical dental metal alloys show good bond strength. (see RelyX Unicem study booklet).

Question: How long does concrete continue to gain strength after it is placed?

Century Cement- F.A.Q.
Answer: Concrete's most rapid period of strength gain occurs in the first 7 days. The accepted time standard for measuring concrete strength is 28 days. However, concrete will continue to gain strength for long periods of time (months, even years!) As long as moisture is present to continue the chemical process of hydration.

Cement should be used promptly or stored undercover in as dry an area as possible and off the ground. It is considered that under normal storage conditions cement is fully usable for up to six months from the date of manufacture, which is printed on the bag.

Does the frequency of treatments have bearing on success?

Napolitano Day Spa Salon - a full service Seattle spa
The more frequent the treatment, the better the results! Regrowth is most vulnerable when it first reappears. If the hair is not immediately treated, the hair will rebuild its strength and negate the effectiveness of the initial treatment. Therefore, it is very important for a client to participate in a planned program of electrolysis.

What bearing does frequency have on EMF?

EMF Survey & Scans FAQ
Quite a bit. Simply put, the frequency is the number of vibrations per second that an energy wave fluctuates, and it is inversely proportional to the wavelength. This dictates factors such as propagation, directionality and penetration strength into various materials. (including living tissue) There are also properties of resonance, wherein a structural material may start absorbing or redirecting a much higher percentage of energy due to wavelength matching.
