Why does my timer keep blowing fuses or tripping the circuit breaker?

Orbit Irrigation Product, Inc. :: Frequently Asked Question
One or more of the electric control valves has a shorted solenoid, or there is a short in the wiring. If you have a multimeter or volt meter you can check your wiring and solenoids for shorts and continuity. Otherwise, try switching another solenoid from a functioning valve to see if the problem valve will turn on. If so, replace the solenoid. If not, you may have to replace the wiring. Check the transformer for output (24VAC). Push the red power reset button or verify that the fuse is good.

My charger is tripping my GFCI circuit breaker on my outside outlet?

ProMariner :: Support :: FAQs
All chargers that use this technology to charge batteries bleed a little voltage, which should be below the GFCI trip point. Test the charger on a non-GFCI outlet (inside the house) and see if the charger works. If it works, then most likely something is wrong with the GFCI outlet. If it does not work on an inside outlet, then there is something wrong with the charger.

What are the electrical requirements? Do I need a separate circuit breaker?

Frequently Asked Questions About A Smoke Air Cleaner and Pur...
For easy compatibility, these units are 120v. Since these smoke air purifiers have such a low amperage, you won't need to use dedicated breakers, or install new breakers to accommodate them... The SE400E only draws 1.8 amps, while the SE800E draws 3.4 amps.

Why do I keep Blowing Fuses after Installing them?

The Aftermarket Lights FAQ.htm
OK, the new "ally" lights work great, but I've blown two fuses in two days. But they work great when the fuses are intact. It seems the fuse blows if I start the engine with the high beams (and the Rally) lights turned on. I don't know about the other years, but the '02 Dakar has the lights shut down while cranking, and then they come back on after the engine fires up. This is when the 15A in-line fuse seems to blow.

What is 'Circuit Breaker' ?

Circuit Breaker is the maximum permissible deviation of the price (specified as percentage) of the incoming order from the Circuit Breaker Base Price for that instrument. Orders violating circuit breaker will result rejection of the order.

Why does my car keep blowing fuel pump fuses/relays?

ORG FAQ
If the proper size fuse is used (check the wiring diagrams in Haynes for the correct size), but keeps blowing, that should tell you something! The circuit, for whatever reason, is drawing more current than it should be! There is some possibility of there being a short to ground, but if the fuel pump (and car) is running, then suspect the fuel pump.

What can cause a blower to overload a circuit breaker?

Tempest Technology Corporation
If the breaker is not sufficient to handle to starting amps of the blower, the breaker will activate. The starting amps are a momentary jump in amps, which are required to get the blade up to operating speed. circuit breakers age, their resistant to spikes in amp draw will deteriorate. Also, operating more than one piece of equipment on a generator will limit the amount of power that a circuit breaker can handle.

What is the function of a circuit breaker?

Honda Gensets, Water Pump, Engines, Lawn Mowers & Brush Cutt...
Circuit breaker is provided to prevent the genset from overloading. In case the genset is loaded beyond the Specified load capacity, the genset will trip and Engine will come to No load condition. The Circuit breaker will have to be manually reset after removing the extra load.

Q How does wire length affect the trip time of today's circuit breaker?

Zlan -- FAQ
When the wiring shorts out, the longer the wire the longer it takes today's circuit breaker to trip. The delay time between the occurrence of a short circuit (when the arcing and sparking begins) and the tripping of the breaker may vary from a few tenths of a second to several minutes, depending upon the available short circuit current. The variance in short circuit current is due to the type, size, and length of wire installed.

What is a digital circuit breaker?

DCC FAQ 1.9
Should you want to combine analog and digital operations on the same layout, a device needs to be placed on the analog side to prevent the voltages from combining when you go over a gap. This can be accomplished by using a large choke or by a digital circuit breaker. A digital circuit breaker must be used if the "0" bits are elongated (the DC component of the signal is non-zero). Arnold has developed a digital circuit breaker (they call it a Trenmodule) for the N market.

Should a Water Ionizer have a fuse or a circuit breaker?

F.A.Q.
A Water Ionizer should have a three prong plug and thick electrical wire. Two prong plugs encourage overheating as they do with any other appliance. It does not matter whether a Water Ionizer has a fuse or a circuit breaker, although circuit breaker Water Ionizers often have thin electrical wires, two prong plugs and weak transformers that overheat. Thus they often require a circuit breaker rather than a fuse which would often need to be replaced.

Is a circuit breaker and a safety switch the same thing?

Electricians PLUS Frequently Asked Questions
No. A circuit breaker is designed to limit the flow of electricity through a given circuit in your home, thus reducing the possibility of a fire due to overloaded circuits. A safety switch is designed to save lives by interrupting the flow of electricity quickly.

What is the difference between a safety switch and a circuit breaker?

Electricians PLUS Frequently Asked Questions
A safety switch is for protection of life and a circuit breaker is used to prevent overloading of circuits. Overloaded circuits are a fire hazard.

What is a circuit breaker panel schedule, and why do I need one?

ONLY CONNECT LLC - SPECIALIZING IN SMALL ELECTRICAL PROJECTS...
A circuit breaker panel schedule is simply a list of which receptacles and lights are controlled by each circuit breaker. They are often posted on the inside of the panel cover. They are most often either blank or scribbled over and illegible. It is worth making a complete, easy to read list: it will save you time and energy when a circuit breaker trips, and it will save an electrician time-and you money.

Q4.Can you explain in simple terms why we are always blowing are power fuses, mainly in Winter?

Frequently asked questions
The most likely cause is an overload and in winter portable heaters and clothes dryers generally cause this problem. The best solution is to look at each circuit and see what your loading is. Firstly look at the size of your circuit, for power it will be generally be 15,16 or 20 amps. Next multiply your circuit amps by 240 volts, this will give the maximum loading in watts that the circuit will carry without overloading it.

My breaker keeps blowing with my aerator unit, what is causing this?

Septic Supplies Inc. - FAQ's
The most common problem is debris wrapped around the shaft putting a high amperage load on the motor. For this reason it is a must to have the FA340 aerator on a 4-amp breaker or the motor will burn up in high amps situations. Remove unit from tank and lay the shaft on the ground (be careful not to bend shaft), check shaft for debris. Also check rubber vibration dampers on mounting brackets.
