The Dehner equestrian and Motor Patrol boots get wet all the time. The first thing to consider is that boots should be waxed or oiled so that they tend to repel water and are more resistant to water. Once they're wet, however, they should be dried as soon as possible with room temperature, dry air.

It is understandable that parents would like to keep their skater in stock boots as long as possible. Stock boots cost less, prices range from $250 to $475. They are also quicker to get, sometimes the same day of the fitting or within a few weeks. In some cases, a stock boot does not fit the design requirements or fitting needs of the skater.

If you have your own boots you can deduct $4 per day from the cost of your package. Please specify when making your reservation that you have your own boots and select a "ski only" package.

Yes, the Wader PEET Dryer model is the answer. You can also purchase PEET Extensions that can easily be added to other PEET Dryer models (e.g. Original, Propane) to dry and remove odors from such footwear.

All saddlery and horse equipment imported into the EEC from USA is subject to an import duty (currently 14.7%), and on top of the combined price of the goods and import duty, VAT (currently 17.5% in UK) has to be added. These obviously have to be reflected in our prices - however once the import duty and VAT has been paid by an EU Member State, there is no further import duty or VAT applicable when sending those goods within the EEC to another member state.

We try and keep our prices as low as we can without harming service and quality, simply by reducing costs where possible, low margins, small staff, batch shipping, more returning customers, no physical distribution center and more. By far the best way to break-in new boots is to skate in them. First, start by spending a session or two just stroking forward, stroking backward and doing simple spinning. When the boots feel comfortable, add the basic jumps you can land consistently. You may find that when the boots are new, you may have to relace the boots during the session to allow the lace to stretch, leather stretching and foam tongues compression.

Despite the rough terrain and many miles of cross country travel, you will probably be much better off in running shoes, although one of the modern lug soled running/hiking shoe hybrids might not be an unreasonable choice. I usually wear my running shoes when I go backpacking anyway. However, you'll want to pack several pairs of whatever you wear, and bring lots of extra socks. Even in '94, a very dry year, this was a foot-soaking course.

SnowSeal is good for the sole edges and seams, but may be a bit of an overkill on the rest of the boots. We like the beeswax based boot grease or bee oil for both the standard oil tanned leather and the silicon tanned leather. These are a mix of beeswax and oil. SnowSeal is thicker and stickier and does not breathe, but it's great for sealing the seams and the interface between the soles and the boot uppers.

Lots of motorcycle patrol officers refer to the stock / ready to wear Dehner motor patrol boots as the Dehner Jr. and the made to measure motor patrol boots as the Dehner Sr. We charge $399 for the stock / ready to wear Dehner motor patrol boots and around $619 to $879+ for most of the made to measure boots. That may explain the terminology :=)

On both Wesco and Dehner boots, the rule is silver colored nickel hardware on black leather and gold colored brass hardware on brown leather. It is possible to substitute nickel for brass and vice versa on any custom order. Just put a note in the remarks on your order.
