The following is a collection of questions that have frequently been asked about debt and what to expect.

In its most basic form, a debtor is a person who owes someone else money. A creditor is the person who is owed money. For example, If John loans Mary fifty dollars, then John is the creditor of Mary, and Mary is the debtor or John.

We can have social security payments assigned to you for support arrearages. We are also able to attach most investments which the debtor may own.

The official title of the debtor after having filed a chapter 11 proceeding. The debtor in possession enjoys important powers and protections but is also burdened by significant duties and benefits.

Depending on how you look at things being blacklisted is a good thing and a bad thing. Why it's bad... it limits the number of downloads (but not much though). Why it's good?... it stops excessive strain placed onto the servers, which is better for everyone. If you happen to be blacklisted don't worry, its only temporary so as long as you don't do it again you won't get blacklisted again. Check the server log to find out whether you have been blacklisted or not.

The site blocks addresses listed in the (former) PeerGuardian database, as well as addresses of banned users. This works at Apache/PHP level, it's just a script that blocks logins from those addresses. It should not stop you from reaching the site. In particular it does not block lower level protocols, you should be able to ping/traceroute the server even if your address is blacklisted. If you cannot then the reason for the problem lies elsewhere.

Blacklist is a misleading term, which came about when credit bureaux only kept negative information. In the 1980’s, following international trends, credit grantors are now encouraged to also share positive information about their customers, as this facilitates access to credit. The perception that Credit Bureaux only keep negative data is there for not true. For example, about 85% of the information held on Credit Bureaux is positive information and only 15% is negative.

The suspension of a blacklisted constructor may be lifted either automatically or through the issuance of a Delisting Order of the agency concerned depending on the condition of the Blacklisting Order.

In all our judgment recovery experience we have never been threatened by a debtor. The only time we're usually even contacted by a debtor is when we've initiated that contact. Believe me, the most common emotion on the debtor's behalf will be embarrassment at having to be pursued by a 'specialist' to make good on their debts. Even so, as a precaution we always tell students to use a business name and a post office box for all of their correspondence.

Try to download daily.cvd with lynx or wget from the same machine that is running freshclam. Future versions of freshclam will provide a better way to deal with this. Sure, install a proxy server and then configure your freshclam clients to use it (watch for the HTTPProxyServer? parameter in man freshclam.conf).

If you have a court judgement against you, this doesn't help. Some lenders wont 'touch you' but others will want to look closely at the circumstances of the previous loan default. Your present financial situation will also play a key part in the decision making process. Be honest about your past, present and future finances.

Some countries have legislations requiring modem manufacturers to ensure modems can't dial a failed number too often in a short period of time. Even busy numbers may count toward the blacklist in some countries. Some modem have commands to either disable blacklisting or to clear the blacklist table.

Certain types of property are exempt, however, which means that the debtor can keep them. Exempt property can include: Public benefits, including public assistance (welfare), Social Security, and unemployment compensation, accumulated in a bank account; and Bankruptcy law is primarily federal law and varies little from state to state.
