This is a problem at low light levels, and may be also due to subtle bugs in the code. The cause is most likely the OV7610 settings we are currently using. I am looking into this problem. Some of this is caused by the older technologies and manufacturing processes used in the OV7610 and OV7620AE. The OV7620 is much better about this.

The first thing you have to realize is that there is a fundamental difference between a raster image (which is what Raster3D produces) and a PostScript file. The PostScript language is designed to describe characters, lines, and shapes in terms of coordinates on a page of a certain physical size. A raster image knows nothing about characters, lines, shapes, or pages of any size; it's just a bunch of colored dots (pixels).

Anything that comes between your cable entry point and the TV will cause the signal to deteriorate, and that's what leads to a snowy, grainy picture. Splitters are the single biggest source of loss (see chart below), but all cable runs, unnecessary connectors, cable wall jacks, VCRs, cable and digital set-top boxes ? anything between the cable entry point and the TV ? will degrade the signal.

Change your computer display's video settings to show High Color or True Color (more than 256 colors). Refer to the documentation that came with your computer or to the Windows help system (search for help on Display, Color Resolution or Color Depth) for further details about changing the Display settings for your computer. Is your monitor set to display more than 256 colors? Take a look at the two pictures above: if they look the same to you, there is a good chance that your monitor is not set up to display more than 256 colors. On the Macintosh, use the Monitors & Sounds control panel to configure for thousands or millions of colors. In Windows, right-click on the desktop, select Properties from the pop-up menu, and choose the Settings tab.

You've probably set your video display to use only 256 colors (8 bits per pixel). For the best appearance, set your video display to use thousands or millions of colors (16 or 24 bits per pixel).

If your present picture is ghosting or grainy, it may be a good indication that the service you will require will be digital satellite. The digital signal does not suffer from the same inadequacies as the analogue signal.

If you have noticeable grain or speckles on your film-derived prints it’s very probable that your negatives are highly underexposed (ie: they were not exposed to sufficient light). When photo printing machines encounter underexposed negatives they tend to boost the brightness to compensate, which tends to reveal bad speckly grain. Take a look at your negatives by holding them up to the light. If they seem very transparent and light then they’re underexposed.

This website is optimized for computer monitors displaying at least 800 by 600 pixels at 24 bit color (16.7 million colors). On a Windows-based computer, you may change your display settings by going to the Start menu and choosing Control Panel --> Display --> Settings. Make sure that your display resolution is set to at least 800 x 600 pixels at 24 bit color. If the images still look dark, then please see below.

Increase your resolution to match the natural resolution of the LCD screen. This will provide a clearer picture. (See your user's manual for recommended setting for your model.)

The picture encompasses a 360 degree by 210 degree field of view. This entire field of view is “compressed” into the projected view on the camera. First, try some other video capture application (e.g. xawtv) to make sure that your device is properly working and the correct driver is loaded. If your video standard is NTSC or SECAM, check that the proper video norm is selected: you need to add VideoNorm NTSC or VideoNorm SECAM to the global section of your configuration file. Note that the VideoNorm directive was implemented in version 2.4.1 of the server; all previous versions forced the video norm to PAL. If you are running a pre-2.4.

Are you using the pwc driver? If so, you probably need to insert an additional module called pwcx or upgrade the driver. See here for a discussion of the issues with this driver.

If you have problems reading text or seeing images on your screen such as buttons & graphics you may need to adjust the resolution on your display. You can do this by right-clicking once in an empty space on your desktop and left-clicking Properties on the menu that should popup. This will open the Display Properties window. Click on the Settings tab on the top of the window and on the right-hand side of the screen, make sure your Resolution (or display area) should say 800x600.

video tapes age, the recorded signal slowly gets erased due to stray magnetic fields or perhaps the tape having been repeatedly played in a machine that needed to be de-magnetized. Noise is any unwanted sound. Noise can come from loud music, a chainsaw, machinery, guns, or motorcycles .

The ImmerVision PurePlayer viewer automatically downsizes the image if your computer has insufficient free memory to display the full size image. Check that you do not have multiple panoramas open at once, or other Java applets open on other websites. When you open the panorama in a window you get a lower resolution version of the panorama - you can click the button to view full-screen, but the image may look pixelated.

MetaSynth plays a picture by scanning it from left to right. Every pixelwithin the image literally becomes an oscillator, or tape recorder, withcontrol over volume, pitch, sustain, stereo placement, duration and the envelope of a sound. A time value is assigned to MetaSynth's horizontal axis, frequency, or pitch, is mapped to the vertical axis, brightness of pixels represents volume or amplitude, and pixel color denotes the placement of the sound (pan position) within the stereo field.
