Andrew Huggett of Canada wrote all the music. The music is universal, written by a composer skilled at creating cross-over music that can travel around the world. The instruments used are varied and include a few kazoos.

Almost all of the classical composers wrote chamber music and played it. Indeed, many of them reserved their finest efforts for their chamber music. Some examples are Beethoven's string quartets, piano trios by Brahms and Schubert, and Mozart's inspired quintet for piano and woodwinds. Then, there are contemporary works like the the two fine pieces for woodwind quintet and piano by composers Francis Poulenc and Gordon Jacob. Back to the top

Parts from Vangelis' original soundtrack were re-recorded by Frank Klepacki, Westwood's resident composer; Klepacki also provided additional music that emulated the feel of Vangelis' original work.

The theme music, This Wheel's On Fire, was written by Bob Dylan and is sung by Julie Tippett and Adrian Edmondson.

Talented musical producer Phofo composed the majority of the music used in the show. Ron Wasserman, however, wrote the current Sushi Pack theme song that plays in the opening credits.

For each package the authors of the program(s) are credited in the file /usr/share/doc/PACKAGE/copyright, where PACKAGE is to be substituted with the package's name. Maintainers who package this software for the Debian GNU/Linux system are listed in the Debian control file (see What is a Debian control file?, Section 6.4) that comes with each package. The Debian changelog, in /usr/share/doc/PACKAGE/changelog.Debian.gz, mentions the people who've worked on the Debian packaging too.

Note 1: The Cockaigne overture by Elgar was used originally, although it was replaced later by a march. Regarding Music Everywhere by Eric Coates, Gavin Sutherland writes: "I have it on good authority from the composer's son Austin (now sadly deceased) that the march was written for Rediffusion in 1948 ...for promotional and broadcast material, and it got used on TV as well". Now I know he was into his 80s when he told me this, but I can't help feeling it was used..

The theme song was written by Irving Szathmary, who was the brother of Bill Dana. Dana was Don Adams' close friend and writing partner. The music to the theme is available in a book of TV Themes. In two years of watching Get Smart on eBay, I saw the original sheet music from 1965 on sale once and it sold for around $60. That's the only time I've seen it for sale. The actual song is available on a CD called Television's Greatest Hits, Volume 1. That's available online at Amazon.com.

Johnny Mandel wrote the music. The lyrics to the song "Suicide is Painless" were written by Mike Altman
