Frequently Asked Questions

If I own my own discs, can I load them onto a hard drive to play them in a show, etc.?

KAPA Anti-Piracy Agency >> FAQs
No, you MAY NOT load songs from other manufacturers on your hard drive. The licensing rights for music on a hard drive machine exist only between the machine manufacturer and the music provider. These rights do not extend to the owner of the machine, to load songs from other manufacturers on the hard drive player. Copying the discs on to a hard drive is still copying the discs. Legally, it is absolutely no different than burning a copy of the discs. See similar questions...

Can you email me a copy of the slideshow so I can play it from my local hard drive?

PARENTS' WISH - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Unfortunately, this is not possible as this will be in violation of the copyright terms of the background music that we used for the slideshow. Please wait for the CD to become available instead. I clicked on the other menu links of the movie (eg, About Parent's Wish, View Feedback, etc) but it did not open up those links. Please tell me that this isn't a film to defend the 'right to die' movement and euthanasia. See similar questions...

Why can't I play movies copied to my hard drive?

Almost all movies are encrypted with CSS copy protection. (See 1.11). Decryption keys are stored in a normally inaccessible area of the disc. If you copy the contents of an encrypted DVD to a hard drive, the keys will not be copied. If you try to play the VOB files, the decoder will request the keys from the DVD-ROM drive and will fail. You may get the message "Cannot play copy protected files". DVD production has two basic phases: development and replication. See similar questions...

CESPage.com Xbox - FAQ
Speeding up load times is one of the things that a hard drive can be used for, but it is really up to the developer, developers have been working on making games load efficiently without a hard drive present. The reason a dual layer 12x DVD is in the system was to make sure there was great performance with or without a hard drive. Performance of the optical format was a major consideration when choosing the format for the Xbox 360 to use. See similar questions...

How do cookies end up on my hard drive?

The Unofficial Cookie FAQ
After a cookie is transmitted through an HTTP header, it is stored in the memory of your browser. This way the information is quickly and readily available without re-transmission. As we have seen, however, it is possible for the lifetime of a cookie to greatly exceed the amount of time the browser will be open. In such cases, the browser must have a way of saving the cookie when you are not browsing, or when your computer is shut off. See similar questions...

They will work with any player that can play normal OTR rates like 32k/22kHz. The Volt seems to the the darling of the OTR community. Older players like the MpTrip require CD-style 44.1kHz sampling rates, so they choke on OTR. And of course they will play on any PC-based player like WinAmp.
